I have really been in a lot of pain lately and my mom offered to buy me a tens unit which is something I have been considering for awhile. I went online and there are so many different brands and options my head is spinning. Can anyone recommend exactly what features are useful? Because my mom is offering to pay I don't want to get something too expensive.

If you have insurance, get your doc to rx a script.  They may pay for it, and the electrodes.  My pain doc did that for me, and they paid.

I never looked on line, don't really know what is out there, sorry.

Most of them have different settings, or feelings.  A steady tingle, or like tiny hammers are beating on you, and then there are settings I don't know what they are for. 

Do you see a PT?  Maybe they could help too.

I did see a PT but lo and behold insurance only covers x amount of visits per year. I don't even have prescription coverage but since I am seeing my doctor tomorrow its worth a try. Thank you for the suggestion.

I would talk to your doctor about the tens unit. Last I remember, fibromites get worse with tens unit as it "works us too hard" The med equipment is always changing though to a better version so I'd just call and make sure it was ok with doctor
