I love the fog.  Seriously.  Today I returned to the bank right before it closed and told them I thought I left my ATM card in the machine earlier in the day.  I need a new one.  Hmmmm.  She gets all my info, informs me that the machine eats the card after five minutes then tells me it will take ten days for the new one to arrive blah blah blah.  Then she says they will subtract $5 from my account as I have lost the card three times in the past six months.  Oh really?  I don't remember.  So I tell this poor woman that we have three or four accounts at this bank and have suffered with so many new service charges recently...we used to get free senior checking and now we have to maintain a balance and make six transactions a month to waive the fees...in the mean time the teller next to her can hear me and keeps pointing at my chest.  There's nothing remarkable to point at...I'm no Pamela Sue Anderson.  I finally looked down and poking out of the pocket of my fibro-flannel shirt is the top of the bright red debit card.  So my teller rolls her eyes as she has just canceled the card on the computer.  She was able to fix it but wanted to charge me the five bucks anyway.  I told her if she did that I would take my accounts to another bank...I think I heard applause.

All I can say is DUH.  I guess the only thing more distressing about having fibro is being an old broad with fibro.  Is there no mercy?

Well, I don't know what to tell you about wearing your card, but HURRAY for you for telling them you would move your accounts!!!!! More people should do it!!!!

I use a credit union, and just love it! I detest big banks and all the fees they are getting away with.

and as bad as fibro fog is .. don't we know it. you did make me laugh
cause I do such things ......... lol...... we have to laugh too right... :-)

Donna, thanks for posting this! It made me laugh. My mom was making jokes about me the other day about how forgetful i am, i told her its one of the goodies that come with having Fibro, lol! She apologized, said she wouldn't tease me anymore but its okay. I have to laugh to keep from crying :0)

Hey Donna...today I pulled one of your tricks...I tried to buy my groceries using my library card...I haven't done that in a while. Have you?

Donna, I wish you were my neighbor...we could get into a lot of mischief together...we could confuse lots of people. turn

turn  Snort snort belly laugh!  turn   Oh, good one, Donna!  That'll teach them to take you for granted!  You will be famous.  Maybe not in the way you always dreamed, but hey - - we can't be choosy these days, can we?

I think I'm known at my bank as that crazy, wild-haired oldish lady who makes someone open the door for her, hobbles in covered in animal hair, carrying a little teeny tiny plastic bag of coins to cash in (because that's all I can carry without hurting myself - probably $8 worth) and can't figure out what's left of $200 after you subtract $15.  Then, probably once a month I'll pull up to the drive-in and sit there before realizing I should be at a different bank (my daughter's) or even try to make a deposit at the wrong bank,  eyes or drive away with the plastic sender thingy and have to shamefully return it.

I still have a senior's account that's free.  If they change that, I am definitely outa there.  Even spaceheads have to draw the line somewhere. wink

After thinking about this I am seriously considering going to another bank...the fees have gotten out of hand...it is now $20 for a book of checks, or so the hubby tells me.  Can that be true???  I think they are trying to force us all to pay bills online and don't want the expense of sending statements every month.  It would be a pain to change as paychecks from three different schools are direct depost and so many things like car insurance are automatically taken out every month.  All those institutions and company's we'd have to call...Holy Moly.

Just as a side bar...this banks ATM machine used to be in a little lobby  inside the front door.  The outside wall plus the door was solid glass.  I was with my friend getting money one day....she gets her cash, thinks the glass wall is an open door and slams into it head on...falls back on the machine, stunned, and the bank called call an ambulance.  I'm on the sidewalk watching this in slow motion...it's one of those things that makes you want to laugh your head off... like seeing someone slip and fall on the ice.  So bad of me, but knowing that's something I would do!  And have, actually.  Mirrored walls are my fave.

Oh well...the ATM machine is no longer in the lobby.

I'm new around here, but I just had to respond and tell you not to feel bad. My husband doesn't have fibro and insisted that the ATM ate his card a while back when all the while he had put it back into his wallet. And he hasn't even got any fibro fog!

Oh, Donna, this was soooo funny!  We do some of the dumbest things.

 

A year ago I had a garage sale, wrapped all my change from the sale, and headed to the bank.  I went through the drive-through, put the rolled coins in and got back about $25 less than what I thought I should.  I told the guy and he said he was accurate.

 

I pulled into the parking lot, went in and spoke to the teller personally.  He stopped what he was doing and went through every transaction he handled that morning and came out to the penny and told me, again, he was accurate.  I was soooo ticked off and told him off and that he was wrong.

 

I stormed to my car and there on the passenger seat were several more rolls of coins.  blush    Oh, man, did I ever feel stupid!  I took them in and apologized and he was so nice about it that I went and bought him a small box of Russel Stover's candies and gave it to him the next day along with a card. 

 

It's funny.....whenever I pull up to the drive through window, he never comes to he never is around!  LOL

Hi Donna. its been a very long time since we talked

any way love this... reminds me of when I tried paying for grocery's with my drivers licence could not figure out why my card did not even read. well it just worked earlier I said. humm.
my daughter now uses mommy as her excuse for memory issues. she calls it mommy brain LOL. mind you they think she has Fibro to or at least her old Doc did. she is not telling this one about that cause then they seem to stop looking at your symptoms and use Fibro as a bucket .

I have still been doing the bills and check book. mind you it takes me about a 4-5 days to figure it all out . stuff that used to only take a hour or so. so this past week end I told my honey we had extra money . humm. looking good. right . well on Tuesday I realized i forgot to pay one of the bills LOL. they where closed over the weekend so could not pay over the phone right then. of course I did not mark it off ./ but any way. at least we did not spend all the money LOL... and he trust me with the check book.. a glutton for disaster hu

oh and love the spell check.. that was not here before
