I made an appointment yesterday due to having a lot of pain in the area around the sciatic nerve. I figured I probably had some inflammation around a tender point and was hoping for a trigger point injection and to be back to normal. Unfortunately I did not get that lucky. My doctor thinks I may have a slipped disc and wants to send me for an MRI. He also said there are different kinds of injections if that is the problem and he wont do them because it requires doing it with xray guidance. Although I don't have a definate diagnosis yet, I have been doing some research and the biggest recommendations have been a chiropractor (I am not a big fan of them) and PT. I have been using my heating pad but would love other suggestions on obtaining pain relief without aggrevating my fibro. I mentioned in another post my doctor filled out the patient assistance form for the lidoderm patch and I do have pain killers but I would prefer other ways of pain relief without medication. On a happier note, my doctor gave me a prescription for trazodone and I only woke up once last night and was able to fall back to sleep in fifteen minutes which is a huge improvement over the 3 to 4 hours of sleep I have been averaging.
