I was wondering if anyone new how my Dc. might treat a osteo. stress fracture in my hip.  I don't see Dc. till Wed. and was just curious what yall think.

I did post on the osteo. forum too so I could gets some opinions.

Marilyn, I'm sorry to hear about your hip. Was the fracture due to osteoporosis? If you haven't had a DEXA bone scan done, it might be good to determine what your bone density is and if treatment is needed to help.

I have severe osteoporosis and am at a crossroads, determining what my next step is....been on bisphosonates for almost 10 years now and they are not helping...I am still in that severe catagory. In a few weeks my rheumy is having the discussion about me starting self injections of Forteo...don't think it is a good option for me.

Robin I too have osteoporosis. Thats why I was wondering if they where going to treat my fracture different.
I was on growth hormoune for a while and it worked.!!!!!

Marilyn, I know that the forteo can be used for people who have had fractures. I think it is a synthetic hormone and can be used up to 2 years. I don't know what happens after that....Boniva hasn't helped me.

My lowest T-score was -4.3 and right now it is at -3.9. I haven't shown much improvement in 10 years even though I exercise, eat pretty healthy and take all the supplements I should for healthy bones.

When should you worry about bone density test? So sorry to hear about your hip.

ak, it's a fracture so it not like it is broke into ? I have had a bone density not to long ago. I am not in bed like I should be.
Dc. on Wed.
I am so surprised nobody has know anyone that has fractured a hip. Sure was hoping for some info.
