I want to work,but how can I tell if I am able?

I've been worrying a lot lately which I know is counter productive,but I just can't seem to help it. I was hoping maybe getting some opinions on here would help me figure this one out. I have been on welfare for about five months now with a diagnosis of fibro and also a cyst on the brain which causes horrible migraines. My doctor assured me we could get my symptoms under control,but my pain levels and fatigue have been horribly inconsistant. One day I'll feel as if I can be working without any problem and the next I will feel so horrible I think I'll never get there. The past week has been the worst since my diagnosis my pain levels are through the roof. My doctor said I had to push through some pain so I've been trying to ignore it,but I haven't slept in about three nights from it now. It seems my system can't handle much medication either. Everything I've tried other than gabapentine has caused heart problems. I am doing physical therapy,but it was not the miracle I was hoping for as of yet and it's been over two months. I only have four or five more months before the state will force me to try to file for permanent disability. I'm so scared about that it's the last thing I want. I know how most people see people on welfare and judge them for it and I think of how I won't be able to live my life the way I want to. Right now seems a bit hopeless,but do you guys think I can really know if I can work one way or the other for certain? Is it something I have to leave to others to decide or try doing it again to know for certain? Any advice at all would be hugely appreciated. I just can't seem to figure out what I can and can't do because things are so up and down.

you have to do what you want.my passion as a chef was taken from me.
i went back and tried ended up with 3 degree burns.my hands would,nt cooperate.my back and neck where excrutiating.BUT I TRIED! i have no income no nothing.i filed for ssd.i,m going to lose house soon.so st art thinking about it before you have no income at all

Angel-I would like to try volunteer work,but I fear trying anything will stop my medical coverage. I cannot have any gainful employment while on welfare or show that I can do too much. I went undiagnosed for about two years suffering and not sure why before finally having to go on welfare. I was trying to start my own business and went back to school for web design,but my medical bills depleted all of my savings. I'm hoping I can find out more about programs to get me back in the work field once my temporary disability time is over. It is scary though since I feel right now I probably couldn't do it. Once I leave welfare I won't be able to afford medical coverage unless I find a job right away that has it. I think all I can do it wait and see if I feel a bit better. The doctor is going to raise my gabapentine next time I see him. Maybe with that I'll have more good days and be more confident that I will be able to work.
