Hi, Tessyann, and welcome! The only prescription medication I take for fibro is a muscle relaxer called Robaxin. That really has made a difference in my pain. I also take ibuprofen with food, extra strength Tylenol, malic acid/magnesium and vitamin D3 supplements and an alternative pain product called Curamin. I don't have any side effects from these.
Also, you need to keep moving with fibro. If you sit or lay too long you will be stiff as a board and have more pain. I do daily gentle stretching exercises, a daily gentle exercise like walking, swimming, yoga, and I pace myself when doing things. I also get a gentle massage from a massage therapist who has studied how to massage fibro clients. All of the above helps me be in control of the pain and I've lived a full and enjoyable life in spite of fibro!
Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there. Good starting links are called Symptoms and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia. All the links are good so do check them out. You will find links about malic acid/magnesium and also vitamin D3 and how they work in your body.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questiong because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
