Hi, Laura, welcome!
You are dealing with an awful lot. The first thing I would suggest is to read the 1st thread on the list, "Fibro 101," because it has so much helpful information in it. It's a sticky thread, so it's not going anywhere (good thing for me, because I keep forgetting what I already know!
) It's too much to read at once, so let yourself absorb little by little. It's well worth the time.
Fibro is definitely not a one-size-fits-all disorder: we use a WIDE range of treatments, and it usually, but not always, takes quite a while to find the best combo. No one here can tell you the best treatment for you....I take hydrocodone for post-spinal-surgery pain, and it does help me, but I'm trying to slowly wean myself off. Before that I took Tramadol - now it's not strong enough. I'm also on an old antidepressant, Nortriptyline (for fibro pain and sleep), Clonopin (sleep) and Neurontin, (also for spine-related nerve pain.) I don't like taking all that, but right now that's the way it is. It could be worse. Some people here are not on any drugs, which of course is great.
I hope you're doing some kind of exercise, and by that, I mean GENTLE exercise. Walking & aquatherapy are both wonderful. Just don't stay in any one position too long - that increases our pain.
Another suggestion - start your own introduction thread, with "newbie" or something in the title, and you'll get more answers specifically directed to you.
I hope you do stick around, so we can get to know you better. Take care of that poor toe!
Debbie
