Hi everyone,
i had a 2nd appointment with a Rheumatologist,

the first time he saw me was a nightmare, he talked
just about himself. he found out that i was german and
he is jewish, all he talked about was what the ****s did ect.
i told him 3 times that i was born way after the war.
anyway , he didn't do anything ,he said that i need a x-ray
of my left hip. why i don't know.... he also told me to take
Tramadol 50mg every 6 hrs.

i went back to him yesterday, this time he talked about
watching TV all night and that was a stupid thing to do,knowing
he had to get up in the morning.
i was getting set to walk out, he looked at my x-ray and said
everything is ok , i know that all along.
than he looked me straight in the eyes and said " you do not have Fibro you have a pinched nerv.
i said the Neurologist said it was fibro..so now what .
he gave me 2 more pills to take , Meloxican and Tramadol and told me to come back in 4 weeks.
i'm in shock, what is the matter with this guy, he never
laid a hand on me . what can i do next? i'm not taking any of
the drugs he gave me.
Ladies can some please tell me where to go from here, because
i will never see that guy again.

There is a rhuemy i saw in our area. His beside manner was terrible. The first time i went, my dad drove me as it was in town and i get nervous driving. He said i had Psoriatic arthritis. Since i did not have any skin issues, i doubted it. I took my husband with me the next visit and he agreed he was rude. I said something to the lab girl and she said they get a lot of complaints. The dr spent most of the visit telling my husband why he needed to lose weight. Hubby agreed not great with patients.
I went to another dr and she was great and dx fibro. When my pcp was setting up the appt next month. they suggested the one that dx fibro. She said the other dr was good at the medical part but terrible with patients. so it was not just me.

Talk to your neuro and let them know your concerns. Also your pcp. Good luck

I'm so surprised you returned to this jerk for the second appointment!  I would have reported him and not have made a second appointment.

 

Please find a GOOD rheumatologist.  I also agree, I wouldn't take anything he gave me without talking to my primary care doctor first.  The rheumy is totally unprofessional.

Wow...I'm also quite surprised in that you went back to this guy! I'm sorry, but we HIRE these Drs. for our care and we must choose wisely as our time and health is too valuable to put up with anything more than professionalism and good treatment.

Sounds like this guy, besides how unprofessional he is, is someone who is just throwing medication at you instead of really trying to develop a comprehensive program to approach your Fibromyalgia so that you can get back to living your life!

Just make an appt. with another Rheumatologist and go from there.

In the meantime...don't forget the sticky on here named Fibro 101 that gives lots of suggestions on things we can do ourselves to help our Fibro.

Hi thank you all for your reply.

since we moved from MD to FL i had to find
new Doctors .
my pcp is great and i found a GI who helped me
to get into remission.

my Husband is a Barber and he will ask around in his
shop if some one knows of a good rheumy.

in 2 weeks i have a appointment with my PCP and
i will tell her what this Rheumy did and said.

i live in Ocala and we don't have
to many rheumy's here, besides i have
to find out if the Doctor is in my health plan.

Dont send any bad rheumy Dr.'s to Anchorage. They are looking for serveral to come this way! Soon I hope!

A lot of patients seem to like this doctor from Ocala.  He's a board certified Internist and also a rheumatologist.  You could call to see if he is board certified in rheumatology and if he treats fibromyalgia patients.  The thing that would be great is he could handle everything for you.

if he is in my health plan.
i'm not on medicare , but my husband has
a good health insurance.
