Soc. Sec. is sending me to a Dr.

I received a letter from Soc. Sec. stating that they have set up an appointment with a Dr. this Wednseday. I am so nervous about this. I have a fear that I will probably be having a good day (symptom wise) and that the Dr. will say there's nothing wrong with me. What can I say to the Dr. if that's the case? I have had so many Drs. in the past not take my pain seriously and now I feel lke I'm going to be walking into the lion's den. Please say a prayer that it goes well for me. Thank you.

Glass- I never had to do a social security Dr., but just give him your worse days. Sometimes it's hard for fibromites to describe because one hour your doing fair and then out of the blue you can hardly move. All my days I had pain, so I didn't say well sometimes I have good days. I am not sure if you suffer from depression. My psy. Dr. Is the one that decided my pain put me in such a severe depression.

My health improved by leaps being off work. The more work I did the pain increased and depression took over. It seem to be a never ending battle. I pray it goes well. Your health is worth fighting for.

This doc is probably going to say that there is nothing wrong with you. When I went, they squeezed my thumb really light and asked me if I hurt. Yeah, right... They had me open a door and said I had no physical limitations. So it is kind of a joke. Though you might get a doctor that really cares. I hope that you do. I hate the system. I tried to file again and they said we make too much money. So I am truly frustrated with the system.

I am not trying to disappoint you, but this is how it was for me. Just do describe your worst days. Tell them everything hurts. And whatever you do, if he puts a quarter on the table, don't pick it up and look at it like I did. That was stupid on my part. But they were printing a lot of new quarters with the different states on them, and I was curious as to which one it was. I should have never have picked it up and looked at it.

I am wishing you the best. I hope that you are ablle to convince them, but I am not optimistic in that. Though this is just another part of the process that you can appeal. And you may have to appeal it all the way to the end. I hope not though.

I wish you well on your doctor visit, I am glad it's been pointed out that it's this doctors job to decide you are heathy enough to work. I never wish flares on anyone but I am sure like others you will so stressed a flare is a high possibility.

Well this Dr. saw me for 10 min. He was more interested in the pain in my neck and back due to bulging discs and arthritis. I tried to explain my muscle pain, fatigue, restless leg syndrome, brain fog etc. and that I had been diagnosed by 2 Drs. for Fibro. He said he would send in his report and that I should hear something within 5 wks. So here I am...playing the waiting game. Thank you all for you advise and concern and will post any news when I get it.

Karen...I've never heard of that type of benefit that allows you to also draw off your spouse because you are disabled.

I think it's at age 62, the spouse of a living worker who is drawing benefits may be entitled to draw a benefit if married for at least 12 months.

Or before age 62, a spouse of a worker who is drawing who has a young or disabled child also drawing may be entitled to a benefit that is limited by the family maximum.


So..I'm certainly not an expert...just what I have read and learned about disability since I've applied..
