I have a very high arch, and rigid feet and toes. I just did a search on 'arthritis women's shoes' and also 'orthopedic shoes' and found some good sources (though kind of spendy!). I need very flexible soles and if the soles are even a little rigid, my feet will cramp.
Does anyone know of a source for good, comfortable shoes with a soft, cushioned arch support and very flexible but still supportive soles? I need fairly thick but lightweight soles. From what I've researched, Propet sounds like a good bet. I also sent for the catalog from Buck & Buck. I'm only in my 50s, but my feet feel like I'm about 90! I find myself changing shoes all day long, soaking them, using orthotics, pads, arch supports, Dr. Scholl's products, etc., but still my feet are touchy.
Even if the shoes are ugly or look like they're made for someone elderly, I'm interested.
I think the Birkenstocks sound (and look) good, but I'm afraid I couldn't walk much with that type of sole, as I believe they're cork(?) (Someone correct me if I'm wrong). Flexibility in the sole, but good support for the arches are a must for my fussy feet!
Also, has anyone with similar problems had any luck at places like the Healthy Feet store or FootSmart (I get their catalog, too)? Does anyone know of other paper catalogs that have helpful foot products/shoes? I don't mind spending a fair amount of money for good shoes, but sometimes places like that can get terribly expensive.
I should mention, too, that I'm looking for shoes--not sandals.
Thanks for any help! :)
