I had a friend that I went to school with that posted a comment on facebook today. It was about being frustrated with people that don't understand about being in pain or having a disorder or disease. She said people tend to misunderstand because you look fine on the outside and they can't see what's going on inside. She called it the invisible illnesses. She had a list of so many of these disorders and diseases, Fibro being one of them and asked that if you could relate and cared for those with these invisible illnesses to copy and paste it to our fasebook wall. which I did. But it really got me thinking about how many people suffer everyday and alot of them don't get the support from their family and friends. It just made me sad to know that there are people who aren't getting the support that they really need. We have this forum and that is so awesome. I had a  great day yesterday and was so happy. woke up this morning in so much pain I felt like I was being punished for having a good day. I know I wasn't but you get the point I'm sure. My husband could see it in my face and asked if I was okay knowing that I wasn't. But I am a lucky one my husband and son both support me and the bad days that I go through and they do what they can to make my day the best it can be. I am sooo very grateful for that. We can't forget how many people struggle each day with pain and money problems, not having insurance and so much more. This forum is such a great tool so that all of us can give support and strength to each other. And hopefully make somebody's day a little better! smurf

You are right...there are a lot of people suffering from chronic pain problems but you can't see pain unless it's so bad that tears are streaming down your face. But thank God for forums like this one. They weren't around when I developed fibro. Hey, I looked fine so that meant I was fine. Nope!

Why don't you post about this forum on that Facebook page. This forum, I think, is about the best one out there. We have won awards too! We help many people and some just stumble upon us by accident! That could really help some people who are totally "lost" with this illness.

Yes, thank god for this forum I found it last week after suffering so long by myself. I can relate so many people do not understand the conditions or hidden pain. My elderly mother who I take care of is very well aware when I am bad, she walked by the room last week and I was crying and she asked me "its that bad isn't it" If I didn't have her support I don't know what I would do.

It's a great idea to post the forum for her and others to see.

So I posted this forum on my facebook page and have already seen it being passed on. It's awesome to have such conveniet ways to pass on information. I just love it : )

Lisa88 - my friend posted the article about illness being hidden on Facebook. It didn't take me 2 seconds to comment on it. I know some people ask me why I ride the disability bus. I look fine to them. I hate to go in all my reasons why.

I have a handicap placard and I've gotten many nasty looks in the 23 years I've had it. Since I don't need a wheelchair they think I don't need it. Some days I can barely move...but I look just fine. Grrrrrr.

Lisa, I'm so glad you posted about HealingWell! Hopefully we will see some people show up here. Who knows. They could be lurking right now. I was a lurker before I joined.

Me too. I have a handicap card for the car and I very familiar with the looks you get when people see you get out of the car. Just because like you said there isn't a wheel chair and they don't see me walking with a cane so I get alot of dirty looks from people and I tend to smile at people weather i'm in pain or not. I think that really sets some people off, I'm sure that they are completely confused. And I myself don't like to have to repeat whats going on with me to others and won't when their a complete stranger just looking at me like I'm evil!

What we need is to wear that fibro shirt when we use our handicap card. :)

I just got a handicap placard after my surgery this year, after having fibro for over 20. Don't use it all the time (I'd usually rather park farther away if it means I can drive out going forward rather than backing out - that hurts my neck) but there are times it's really hard to walk very far.

If somebody doesn't like it, they can take it up with the driver's license bureau! cool
