I was given some samples of Cymbalta for my FM and it actually seems to help with the pain, however, the second week into taking the drug I went through a terrible depression, almost manic, anxiety spell that was really bad. I do suffer from depression and take prozak (I believe it that the generic) and I do get these spells from time to time.

I am wondering if the Cymbalta made the episode worse for me, I have read bad side effects from the drug so I started back on my other medication. The bad thing is that the drug did help with my pain. I know I need to see my doctor but I usually don't like talking about my depression.

Anyone have the same reactions?

If you are taking Prozac, I don't think you should also be taking Cymbalta. Did the same doctor that prescribed Prozac prescribe Cymbalta? I may be wrong about this. Please check with your doctor about taking these two medications together. Cymbalta has a lot of potential side effects. I tried to take it and it did help with my chronic pain but the side effects were way too bad for me to continue the drug. I am now on Pristiq which does not help chronic pain, unfortunately, but is helping depression and anxiety. I'm only into the 3rd week and so far, so good.

Barbara- I would call your pharmacy and ask them about the Cymbalta and Prozac being taking together. Usually dr's don't mix both of them. It does take time to find that right combination.

The doctor told me to stop taking the prozac and once I starting having these severe symptoms I stopped the Cymbalta and started back on my old medication.

The cymbalta seemed to worsen my pain and it made me feel numb.

I do all that I can naturally to help my pain.
