Hey guys was just wondering if any of you suffer with heat sensitivity and what happens to your body when you are hot??

I think I am sensitive to the heat but am unsure, when there is any kind of hot weather or if I have a hot shower my skin becomes extremely agitated, it starts off feeling like I have ants crawling all over me and if I don't start cooling myself down straight away it will turn into a stinging, pin prick type sensation all over my body and the longer I am exposed to the heat the more painful it becomes. I am constantly complaining about how hot it is when everyone else thinks I've gone mad lol, was just wondering if what I am experiencing is heat sensitivity or if its actually just normal or possibly something else? I get a little confused as to what is normal or not these days so I would appreciate some feedback :)

I have tried researching on the internet and all I can find is that I just have sensitive skin? But I really dont think I do, no product at all has ever agitated my skin, not even the slightest. And I am able to wear tight clothes, jeans, etc, without any pain or skin irritation. The absolute only thing that makes my skin sensitive is the heat............ Just a little confused is all lol, have my first specialist appointment coming up and trying to prepare the endless list of symptoms I need to tell him.

I've never felt that before.

I do get itching attacks but that's from UV rays.

I have heard others mention it with an auto immune problems. I dont have that problem. I could stay an hr. in a hot shower. I wish I had the money to change my tub to a whirlpool. If it was just changing a tub, but you know how that goes. All the tile and plumbing has to be done.

I have itching fairly often along with overall numbness. My rheumatologist mentioned that many of her fibro patients have small nerve neuropathy. She thinks that I also have this. Here's a link to an article about small nerve neuropathy:

I use a lotion for sensitive skin after my baths and showers. Let me know what you think.

Hey almost medfree, I clicked on the link and it just took me to a page to subscribe to the site, maybe I have to register to read the article? I will read up on it though :)

I do get strange sensations in my right arm at times and my legs go numb sometimes so I don't know if that is related or not to my skin problem with the heat.

When I read about how others describe their heat sensitivity, they always mention nausea, headaches, fatigue, worsened pain, etc. I will keep looking though, it would be great to know there is someone else that gets agitated skin like me from the heat.

I don't have this going on. But my friend has something similar. She doesn't handle heat well because there is something wrong with the sweat glands under her arms. She and I talk about a lot of stuff like this. She says it starts out creepy crawly feelings and goes to pins and needles if she gets too hot. But it's just under her arms. Don't know if it's the same thing but it might be worth looking at too.

I am extremely heat sensitive since I got fm. My skin burns and itches espec ially if I sweat. I live in Southern Miss. so it is very hot. It also jumbles my brain, it feels like it is boiling and I get extremely mean-lol-I just DON'T do hot anymore.

I don't know what they did before a/c. Can you imagine living 100 years ago with fibro??

I have a question for you. My fiance and I are hoping to move to southwest Florida next year. I can't tolerate the cold very well and either can he.

I did okay this summer with the 80-90 degree weather and the humidity that was more than usual, what I'd like to know is with all the heat reactions that you get, is being in the air conditioning keep that at bay? Do you do okay when you're inside?

Yes, I don't know how people down south dealt with the heat before air conditioning. I've heard they were use to it.

bayoub2 - Thank you so so much! Absolutely great to know I am not the only one! lol. I can definatley relate to it messing up your brain, I feel exactly the same, it makes me extremely irritable and all I can think about is how I can get cool again! Quite frustrating, makes it hard for us to enjoy the outdoors at times.
