Each day, I try to read something inspirational...today I found these quotes and I thought they expressed that love is always the perfect gift.

Thanks for the reminder, Robin. These are so true.

Love IS always the best gift. Why is it so easy to get distracted, wondering if our physical gifts are enough? I've done this several times the past few days - standing in the store, weighing this or that option - silly.

Debbie, I often had a difficult time choosing gifts for others. The pressure to find something was crazy. In latter years, I have given simple gifts relating to a person's hobby, nothing fancy but seemed to be appreciated.

I no longer put stress on myself to try to create a huge commercial decorating scheme throughout my house or make pounds and pounds of fudge and cookies of every variety. Spending time with others is the highlight of the holidays.

I love this thread!  I agree with everyone.  I wish Christmas wasn't so commercialized and we knock ourselves out and cause a lot of stress for ourselves, too.  I decorate but not like I used to.  I cook good things but not as much as I used to.  With the spare time I have, I can enjoy my family and my friends.  Now THAT is what is important to me and to them. 

 

I try to to keep in mind why we celebrate Christmas.  Pure Love came to earth on Christmas.

A college friend lost her son at Newtown Elementary. Her husband posted on Facebook today to thank all the people who mourned with them. He said, and I paraphrase, that they wanted everyone to invite love and the healing of the season into the homes and hearts of all.
