When my husband was alive, I never had him sleep on the sofa. I figured he needed a good night's sleep because he was the one that was getting up early, working, and keeping a roof over my head and food on the table. If I was really struggling with pain, I would get up and go in the living room and either lay down on the sofa or in the recliner. But, I figured out ways to get comfortable with fibro.
We went through so many mattresses trying to find one I could sleep on. My husband would love our mattress (king size bed) but would give it up for me and buy a new one. Finally he said enough was enough so we bought two California twin mattresses (pushed together they are the size of a king size bed). He said if I didn't like this mattress then I could change it but he could keep his side.
So I took that pillow-topped mattress, put a foam egg crate on top of it, and put a fiber bed (that's like a feather bed but you can wash it) on top of the egg crate. Voila! I get the support I need for my back and the softness for my "Princess and the Pea" syndrome.
I wish my husband could crawl in bed beside me.
