It is so hard being in pain, and feeling low. Remember to be kind to yourself, and that you are worth a treat now and again.

Today I got an acupuncture treatment and then a brow wax. It's tough being middle-aged. Now I am poking about the kitchen, making various dishes for the holiday tomorrow.

My BF tends to be negative at times. I have him on a positivity training program. Every time he says something negative, I say "Quick. What's good here?"

We control our viewpoint, how we look at the world and how we react to it.

Not only do I have fibro but today I had three fillings and a crown done!  I'm still numb and only one side of my face smiles.  LOL 

 

BUT, there is a bakery across the street from the dentist office.  I had only been there one time in 15 years.  I was in the dental chair for 2 1/2 hours so I thought I deserved a special treat.  I decided to haunt them with my smile and I bought two goodies...one for today and one for tomorrow.  That is a real treat to me and I'm looking forward to slipping my lip over them...diabetes and all!  Hey, every once in a while a nice treat feels so good.  yeah

LOL. Bakeries are beautiful places. When I was a kid, my brother used to get me a milk shake when I had fillings. I would happily dribble it all over my clothes.

Absolutely agree...those of us with health issues especially have to work hard at finding ways to nurture and take care of ourselves because then we can take care of others.

It can be a sweet treat like Sherrine mentioned, or the acupuncture and spa treatment like the brow wax or mani/pedi...LOL

Or even doing something for our soul like volunteering and giving of our time which takes our mind completely off of ourselves and makes our hearts happy:)

I am enjoying my daily summer treat of organic sherbert...it's really low in fat and only 110 calories..I savor every bite!!

I will be volunteering down at the Firehouse tomorrow most of the day for the parade and "firehouse games" :) Hoping for good weather!

And yes...having a positive and joyful attitude is crucial for keeping ourselves emotionally well and able to handle the bad days. I try to find things that make me laugh out loud at least once a day as well as enjoy at least two audiobooks a month.

Hope others will share what their joy/treat is for the day:)

All y'all's bakery talk has me hungry!!

I was never so glad to remember that I had a hair appointment today. It's rainy/stormy, so everything hurts like crazy. At least I had a good distraction (plus no more gray & a new haircut) to help deflect the pain of the day! Plus I've got a free hour tonight without the kids, so I plan to treat myself at our local Sally Beauty (new nail polish, my guilty pleasure). Maybe a white mocha afterward at the Starbucks next door. Ahhhhh. And an early bedtime for all, hopefully. ;)

Sounds great Stephlynnette!!! I am in desperate need to go the salon but I have been putting it off as I am nervous to start over with a new person!!! I hate my hair lately and have been living in scarfs and baseball caps! LOL

So, that is a treat I am saving up for the next month:)

Two days ago, I decided to eat my favourite kind of chocolate - Ferrero Rocher - regardless of the gluten, lactose, fructans, soy, food additives and cane sugar. Mmm... sure, I've got diarrhoea and even worse brain fog/fatigue/pain now... but I don't care... it was nice! I needed some good chocolate to cheer me up :)

Wish I could go the bakery, but I'm afraid that amount of gluten would probably land me in the ER again. But I bought a gluten free flour and when I feel up to it, I'm going to make my own bread! Mmm - I haven't had bread since going gluten free; I'm so looking forward to it! I used to want to be a patisserie (I still kind of do, actually) but my food intolerances and health problems put a stop to that plan :( I thought maybe I could make GF pastries and bread; but even then, I wouldn't be up to the long hours of standing and the physical labour of working dough all day long...

Yes, we all need to break out and do something fun once in a while!

Great thread, indeed!

I'm having trouble coming up with anything, though. That's not a good sign! I mean, I have my things that I do regularly to let off steam, like turn up the music and "dance" for a minute, or plunk myself down in front of the tube, or drive around with my little Starbucks coffee....but an actual treat? Hmmmm....

When I figure out something, by jove, I'm going to do it! :) :)

The gentleman discovered an easy cracker recipe that I can actually eat, made with nutflour. I am making these later so we can have crackers and cheese with our wine, as civilized folks do.

Note on reflection-I am currently reading a nineteenth-century novel, and this might have something to do with my sentence construction these past few days, which has been wordy as well as excessively convoluted.

Taking time for ourselves, indulging in something fun or tasty is a pleasure all fibromites deserve! yeah

I'm still feeling the effects of a piece of pie, I indulged in last night. turn   It was built in layers of caramel, pecans, French silk, whipping cream with chocolate sauce, and more caramel and chocolate on top. I think I consumed all my calories for today. tongue    What was I thinking?   smhair

Today my holiday treat is a cherry cream soda..( I rarely drink soda).. yesterday my son brought me a Wendy's frosty..
yes I ate it.. first one in hhmm maybe 4 yr
though
I do share a frozen yogurt w/grandkids if we go to Costco together .. not often.

The gentleman and I were talking about soda fountains and 'real' sodas. I would break my diet for that!
