Complete hysterectomy any women?

I fit, but my symptoms started before the surgery.

I use to suffer with pain, especially when I was young. Now my daughter goes through severe menstral cramps too. She now takes birth control and it has done wonders. In my days they didn't do birth control for menstral cramps. I still have all my female parts. I need a hysterectomy, but have been putting it off. I am on Coumadin, so I have trouble with irregular bleeding.

I had a problem w/ my period from day one. I would have my period for 10 - 14 days, and it was heavy!

I would get a few days off and then strart all over again. I told my mother what was happening and we waited to see if it would settle down. I missed a lot of time in freshman yr of HS. I had a 'few' lectures from guidance that I 'needed to be in class, and couldn't just take off'. I did not feel comfortable telling 'him' the real reason I missed class.

My mother took me to a gyno and I was put on BC pills. They helped to an extent, but it was still long & unpleasant. It went thru my clothes each time I stood up.

I bled thru out my pregnancies. I had my tubes tied after my 2nd son, hard to believe, but it got worse!!

I am coming up on my 10th anniversary since my hysterectomy this summer. My Fibro has kicked into HI gear since the surgery, but even so I'm glad I had it done.

I have had Fibro all my life, I just didn't know it until about 7 yrs ago. None of my drs ever connected the dots. When I connected the dots, I was called a malingerer by my dr. I have a new dr!!

Just curious, but do your doctors believe that the fibromyalgia comes before or after a hysterectomy?

Austen, From what I understood, after the hysterectomy.

I had a hysterectomy (kept ovaries) in December 2011, but I had all the fibro symptoms for a quite a few years before that. I had to get my uterus out because it was affecting my life once a month, EVERY month. I bled so much I thought I would die. I bled through ULTRA tampons, repeatedly. I had cramps so bad when I was younger that it would make me throw up. Getting this surgery was once of the best decisions I ever made...

I am a bit worried about this left ovary coming out, and what meonpause will do to me.. :/
But I am hopeful it will take away the pain I have from it so I can concentrate on other pain :)

Also had a hysterectomy due to a large fabroid,got the op 12years before i got any symtoms of fibro,what i have noticed is that where the scar is theres soft tissue,as have soft tissue where a scar is when i had a vein op on my leg,you could tell me if any of you ladys have that also XX

Yep! Total hysterectomy in 2002 at age 34. Complications after surgery caused a bowling ball size hematoma to form in the incision, had to have blood transfusions (3 units). The hysterectomy was finally done after a chronic illness lasting over a year which involved gastroparesis, a suspected carcinoid tumor in the ovary, lost so much weight that they had to insert a feeding tube (they really didn't know what was wrong with me). I also had a large uterine fibroid and severe bleeding that would last two weeks at a time along with horrible pain.

Funny thing is... the hysterectomy completely solved the gastroparesis, I dealt with the abdominal pain left with the hematoma, started gaining weight back, went to physical therapy in the pool. about three months into my "recovery" I hit the wall, the symptoms and diagnosis started piling up one after the other. The weird thing is that during the time when I was the sickest (before the hysterectomy), and also earlier in my life, I never had any fibro symtoms, depression, ADD, autoimmune disease, kidney stones, chronic fatigue, hypoglycemia, hypothyroidism, etc. Though that one year long struggle, all of that constant pain and fear, I was more motivated, more active, with a positive outlook, had an intense will to keep fighting, was more involved, more social, more interested in life than what I am now.

It almost seems as if either the long-term illness, lack of glucose to the brain, blood loss from surgery, or the hysterectomy itself triggered what I'm dealing with now.

Endometriosis (heavy bleeding, cysts, adhesions, strangled intestines, etc)
in my early 30's resulted in almost- complete hysterectomy though I requested to retain one ovary if possible due to my age.

Was.

Had menopausal symptoms ie sweating , hot flashes, etc.. as soon as I woke up from surgery but the terrible pain was gone !! I could not tolerate HRT.

Later, guess maybe in my early 50's again had symptoms of 'the change' ..
Lucky me !

But no fibro symptoms until physical trauma from an injury.

I still have all my "parts", though endometriosis runs in my family (grandmother, mom, aunt). I never had painful periods until I had my tubes tied, and now they're awful! Part of that could be my proximity to the age of 40 (in a little over a year-next October). I've had two c-sections, too; I wonder if someday I'll have to have a hysterectomy. I'm hoping not, but you never know.

I had a total hysterectomy at age 28 after suffering for ~ 7 years from severe endometriosis with several rounds of unsuccessful treatments. I got tired of spending so much of my time doubled over in pain and unable to do my job (active duty Air Force). I had just gotten divorced and with no prospects for children in the future, with my doctor's advice I chose to have the surgery. Long recovery but well worth it. I've been on HRT ever since.
Fast forward to last year, age 42, I started having significant digestive issues (diarrhea, gas, bloating, abdominal pain, etc.). At the GI specialist's suggestion, I tried a low-FODMAP diet which just made everything worse and kicked all over pain into high gear. That's when my PCM sent me to the rheumatologist who diagnosed the Fibro. I wish there was a simple solution for Fibro like the hysterectomy was for the Endo.
I hadn't thought to connect the two conditions, but the more I learn about my Fibro, the more I have to wonder if some of the other things I've experienced over the years might have been related or early indications.
