Hi, Headup, and welcome! If your medication isn't helping you should talk to your doctor about stopping it. No sense in putting chemicals in your body if they aren't helping you.
I take over the counter things....ibuprofen with food and Tylenol. I also take malic acid/magnesium supplements (magnesium malate), vitamin D3 supplements, and a prescription muscle relaxer that really made a difference for me. We are all different is what will help us but these are a few suggestions to try.
I also do gentle stretching exercises, I walk daily and swim in the summer as my form of gentle daily exercise, and I pace myself when doing things. All of this has helped me be in control of my pain.
If you really feel you are getting worse, you might get rechecked. Fibro is not a progressive illness. I've had fibro for 26 years and stayed about the same, not counting flares, but last year I started to get extreme pain to the point I almost couldn't walk. I needed two canes to walk and my back and hips were killing me. I decided to see a rheumatologist and discovered I had developed another health problem on top of the fibro. This is when I was put back on ibuprofen and given the muscle relaxer and now I'm back to where I always have been with my fibro. It's worth getting checked out if you can alleviate some pain. For me it was a quality of life issue.
Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there. I'm still learning new things about this illness! We have to be our own advocates with fibro so it's good to know all you can about it.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
