Painful joints/ fibromyalgia...new here, so frustrated....

Hello, does anyone experience pain in their feet, ankles, elbows, arms and collarbone with their Fibromyalgia? I have been suffering with pain in these joints the past couple of weeks, not sure if its my fibromyalgia or some thing else. I also find I am so weak, especially in the morning, I can barely pick up my Granddaughter, sucks because I use to be incredibly strong. I am only 46 years old but I swear I feel like a 90 year old women....

Welcome to the forum!!!

It sounds like you may have some arthritis going on. But fibro can feel like joint pain though it actually is muscle pain. I sure hope you feel better soon. You will find here that there are many that feel the same as you and do understand.

When you get a chance, check out the first thread on the forum, titled "fibro101". There is a wealth of inormation there.

Yes, similar issue, but that pain, at least, is a form of arthritis for me. Stretch gently before getting up. A hot shower first thing loosens the pain.

I know I have arthritis in my hands; I think I have it in my feet/ankles, as well, but my rheumy has only checked my knees (significant arthritis there). I definitely do have arm pain, but I'm not sure if it's arthritis-related, fibro (muscles), or carpal tunnel making them hurt.

I have suffered with FB for about 4 years, I'd go to the Dr constantly with pain and she would prescribe pain meds and I finally told her I wanted to go to a specialist, she told me that I was sounded like I was just depressed and that my symptoms were symptoms of depression, I told her I have suffered with depression before and I knew what depression felt like, so just send me to a specialist, she is no longer my Dr.I was finally was diagnosed last year, the Dr put me on Tramadol 50 mg and muscle relaxers. I have appointment on the 20th, hoping the Dr prescribe me something else. I was up all night with pain in my arms, I took 1 Tramadol and 2 muscle relaxers and it didn't touch the pain, took another Tramadol still didn't touch it, brought me to tears.
As for my foot and collar bone, they feel like the are broke at times, so I can't wait to see what they will come up, I just can't these wish washy Dr's..

17 years ago I was diagnosed with Hashimotos, finally after 6 years of going to my doctor and ER, being tested for Hyper and Hypothyroidism and being told there was nothing wrong with me, I finally found the right Dr and he did the correct tests, I cried I was so relieved, I eneded up having my thyroid taken out, was fine for 15 years but for the pass few years My thyroid is out of whack, I go from Hypo to Hyper, so frustrating. Am so happy to have a place to go to where people go through the same issues I go to.

Hi again Kimmers,

I find that heat helps a lot with the fibromyalgia pain. I have what is called a bed buddy. It really helps with the neck and shoulder pain. I got it at Walmart in the pharmacy department. It is a fabric tube typw thingy filled with rice or barley or something. I heat it in the microwave and then wrap it in a towel and put it around my neck. It helps a lot where other things don't.

I also do a lot of walking and that helps. Stretching and moving around keeps you from getting stiff. I don't think that anything will take the pain completely away, but these little tips can help you until you see your doctor.

I sure hope you feel better soon, and don't forget about fibro 101. It is an amazing thread.

I have arthritis and fibro. It's hard to say for someone else as I can't feel what your pain is like. For me the pains are different from one another. Arthritis pain is sharp and hits from the top of the joint to the bottom. It feels like its bone deep. My fibro is a more muscle strain or spasm type pain. I do get it around joints but not the same place as the arthritis. I don't know if that made sense.
