Hi everyone:
I was wondering if anyone else gets occasional dizzy/balance issues. I fell yesterday in the shower and got a concussion. I don't really remember what led up to the fall but I remember feeling myself fall, and hitting the tub.
I am on wellbutrin 300mg xl, 60mg cymbalta and a PPI for GERD.
Any insight is welcome.
Thanks,
Nicole

My balance has always been bad, and as I get older it gets worse (I am 44). I once feel in a tub and cracked my jaw, which has been giving me trouble ever since.
Install sticky things on the bottom of the tub, maybe a bar? Seriously, the tub is not a place to be afraid of falling.

Yes, I have scheduled someone to come in and install a safety rail on the 18th. I already have sticky things on the bottom of the tub. I too am finding my balance is degrading as I get older, and I will be 44 in a couple of months.

yup, always and forever! feeling off balanced catching myself holding on to furniture so I don't tip over.
So this may be fibro related?

I am wondering that myself, so hopefully some of the veterans on this site can shed some light on it. I am thinking the only other thing would be medication related. Food for thought.

I should have finished my thought up above. -blushes-
I have always had bad balance. it has continued to deteriorate with age and fibro. I don't, personally, notice medications messing with the balance issues, but that doesn't mean it can't be possible. I fall over quite easily. Bang into walls and doorways, take steps carefully, the whole shebang.
Still the tub is something you do not want to mess with. Glad to hear you are getting a handle.

I too have had off balanced feeling for long time. But when my neck and shoulders are burning up with pain its worse!
I am seeing a RA on the 18th and the paperwork they sent me with a whole list of symptoms, off balanced/ dizzy was one of them

Yes, my balance has got worse as I aged. My husband doesn't want me standing on anything. In 2004 is when I fell out of a swivel chair. I know how stupid that was. I got a 3 level cervical fusion out of it with fibro afterwards. Please if you don't have a good bath Mat or those things you place in your tub for grip get one now. It may save a bad accident.

My blance since getting fibro is terrible, I have found I tend to have more
falls when I am really tired or in a really bad flare.
So I am super careful at these times

Agree with everyone.. wanted to add that you might consider using a stool or chair in the shower..
Also,I have a friend who does not need a cane for walking but uses one to aid w/balance.
I too have dizzy spells - don't know if it is fibro or some of my other health issues, after a cervical epidural I got episodes that randomly affected walking & that still happens sometimes.
Please be even more.careful, if that is possible. . ; )

Thanks everyone. It helps to know that more than me has this, though I am not pleased that any of us have it.

Right there with you. At first my doctor told me it could be that I am dehydrated. But considering that I drink a pretty reasonable amount of water every day I did not think so. I am thinking it's fibro. Again!
