I used to go to bed when I was in pain, but I learned that doesn't make the pain go away. There are so many other ways to deal with it. You're so right--taking your mind off pain by cleaning or whatever really seems to help.
Doing something fun and rewarding yourself with something small (that's not fattening!) seems helpful, too. Sometimes I'll place an order for some little thing I've wanted for a while, and that cheers me up, too.
