Question About a Pain I Have

I am about to go see my doctor, and I don't know if this pain I get is Fibro related...I have never heard of anyone saying anything about it so I don't think it is. But if I could get some feedback just in case I would appriciate it!

Symptoms:

At the base of my head, where the very top of my spine meets my skull I have this pounding pain that comes and goes. Its like a migraine the way it comes and goes, but when I have an episode of this its only in the back of my head. I have never hit my head on concrete before in my life...however...this pain feels like I am repeatedly SLAMING my head on concrete. Sometimes when the pain is really bad I even taste pennies, get light-headed, and feel like I might vomit.

Has anyone ever felt this before? Do I make any sense?

Sounds like a migraine happening. I would go to a doctor asap.

I have see multiple nuro's and I have been diagnosised with migraines, but that was in 2005/6. My migraines follow a certain pattern, and they are sometimes better but usually worse. This pain is totally different, and it doesnt come with migraines, it just comes on. It hurst so bad I cry, and when I have it at work my boss doesnt care its so painful.

I am going to my doctor on monday, that was the soonest I could get seen.

ive had this before, especially on my left side...its like a strong pulsating pain for me...It kills like mad but I find rolling a tennis ball under my neck / head / whilst laying down helps a bit...don't think mine is migraine related, but more of a really hard knot in my muscle...sometimes its like a deep stabbing pain this I just wait to pass and i know il be alright in 30 mins

Otherwise I just lay down and try and wait for it to pass (hard at work i know)

Always best to get it checked though as it could be something

This could be muscular in nature.  Feel at the base of your skull on each side of your spinal column.  You might find two knots...one on each side.  If you do, those are trigger points.  My neuromuscular massage therapist showed me how to handle trigger points. 

 

Press on one of the knots as hard as you can stand it and then massage it.  Repeat several times and that knot should be getting smaller.  Then do the same thing with the other knot.  Several hours later you can repeat this until those knots are gone and with it will go a lot of the pain.  We tend to forget our skull has muscles too.
