Hi, Faithbfly, and welcome! Nope, you are not crazy. Your symptoms are quite familiar to most of us so you are not alone. It's difficult when you have small children. I had three small children when I was hit with this...while watching TV no less! But, once I found what helps me be in control of my pain, I have had a full and enjoyable life in spite of this illness. The problem is that what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another so it's a trial and error process.
I use ibuprofen with food, Tylenol, vitamin D3, magnesium malate, and a prescription muscle relaxer called Robaxin that has made a significant difference in my pain. I also do daily stretching exercises, daily gentle exercises (I walk and/or swim), and I pace myself when doing things. All of the above help me.
Your doctors seem to be in agreement here. Have they taken a lot of blood work to rule out other illnesses that have many of the same symptoms as fibro? That's usually the first thing they do. When everything comes back normal, you usually are diagnosed with fibro. There is no good test for fibro right now so it's a process of elimination.
Some of your pain you might be able to handle with trigger point therapy. We have trigger points and they can cause pain...and much of it is referred pain. For example, I've been having tingling and numbness in my fingers the past couple of days. Yes, it most likely is carpal tunnel but you can help yourself to make it better. I have a book called The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook that shows you where the trigger points are for what pain you are having. It's diagrams so that makes it easy. I bought it on Amazon but you can find it elsewhere, too. I got out my book, looked up carpal tunnel and guess where the trigger points are for that? In my forearms and my neck! I was so surprised that the trigger points in the neck could affect my fingers. So I started massaging those areas and, by golly, my fingers are getting better. I took care of a frozen shoulder this way, too. What I love about trigger point therapy is that it's all natural.
Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there. Good starting links for you would be Symptoms, What Else Could It Be, and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia. You just might see yourself there. There are links about the vitamin and supplement I mentioned above and how it works in your body. All of Fibro is good so do read it.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
