OT I know something isn't right

Today I had a thoracentesis of my right lung, It's a procedure where they use a super long flexible syringe needle and draw fluid "off" my lung. I needed it done because I had pleural effusion. The procedure is done while you are awake.... it was incredibly painful and I nearly passed out. My blood pressure dropped really low and it was scary.
The normal appearance of pleural fluid is light yellow and clear. Mine looked like dark blood. Well I have to wait till the lab results are sent to my pulmonologist, I see him Thursday. Another challenge lol. This is getting ridiculous.

please say a prayer for me...I'm kind of scared.

I once heard it's best to deal only with what you know at the moment. Not always easy to do, but I think it makes sense.

Hope you can find some relaxing, fun things to do in the meantime. Maybe some fun Christmas preparations?

Of course, Robin, I headed to Dr. Google. From what I was reading, it's not that unusual to have blood in the effusion and it even can be caused from the procedure. It sounds like your procedure was pretty rough. So, keep your hope alive.

The dark red color can also be caused from infection and inflammation which has caused some slight bleeding. You have been struggling with pneumonia so this could be a possible cause, too.

You will find out in just a few days the results of the test so try not to get upset. Take one day at a time. Of course we all will be praying for a good report from your pulmonologist.

This is a terrible roller coaster you are experiencing. Waiting for results isn`t funny. All your symptoms could be from your pneumonia.

Thank You for your prayers and kind sentiments :) Thursday will come soon enough and I should have more info. Trying to stay busy with writing my Christmas cards and getting into the Christmas spirit. Still have some shopping to do and get presents wrapped and shipped out in the mail. I'm behind this year, but hope to get caught up this week. Hoping to get much done tomorrow.
