can Fibro actually create havoc with medication you have taken in the past, really? Read this in fibro 101

my Zoloft no longer works as it has for years...got severe gut infections, one on top of the other and then FIBRO dx. Said to be brought on by the infections and trauma to my system.

but I seem to be over reacting to some meds and not having any reaction to others

Hmmm, I don't know! I haven't read that in Fibro 101, and can't find it right now. But I guess it doesn't really surprise me, considering our brains do such strange things.

We are all different - a wonder drug for me might be impossible for you to tolerate - and of course, you can build up a tolerance, where the benefit wears off over time.

What meds are you having trouble with, aside from Zoloft?

The only time I have had problems with medications was when I was going through menopause. Medications that used to make me sleep or sleepy would make me wired. Now that I am through menopause, I am back to normal. Strange, I know. I've never heard of Fibro causing this problem but who knows?

Antidepressants can poop out from time to time. This could of been a coincidence. Or you maybe needed stronger ones. So I wouldn't worry about that. I hope that helps.

I took the same antidepressant for about 15 years. When I got fibromyalgia, it still kept working. Not saying that fibromyalgia wont make you depressed, it can. But it sounds like more of a coincidence than the fibromyalgia causing the medication not to work.

Are you taking any new medications since you developed fibro? That can mess with other medications, too.
