Pregnancy/IVF and Fibro, advice please!!

Hi, Elle, and welcome! I had three children but hadn't developed fibro at that point. But I did have my Crohn's disease then and that causes pain and fatigue, too. Fibro developed for me shortly after the kids were born...three children ages four and under! I felt great while pregnant so that was good.

If you can't take care of a newborn, who will do this for you? Actually, the newborn stage is one of the easiest stages except for getting up at night for feelings. Once the child starts walking the fun begins. So I do suggest you have a back-up plan in place since there will be no turning back once you have a baby. But I found all the movement helped with my pain. If you sit or lay too much you will be stiff as a board and have more pain.

I am so glad I had my children even though they were a lot of work. They also were a lot of fun and I loved going to their extracurricular activities as they were growing up. They now are all adults and are right there for me if I need them. They have blessed my life so much. So I wish you good luck with getting pregnant. By the way, vasectomies can be reversed in most cases so you might want to look into that, too.

You might try taking some supplements that have helped me and others on this forum. They are vitamin D3 and magnesium malate. These could help you feel better. Do ask your doctor especially if you are planning of getting pregnant. I believe they are perfectly safe for pregnant women because these supplements are also found in foods we eat, but it's always better to ask first.

At the top of the forum you will see Fibro 101. That has links of good info about fibro including links about the supplements I mentioned and how they work in your body. All of Fibro 101 is good so do read it. I think it could help you a lot.

Hey, thanks for the replies, we actually had to babysit two toddlers over the weekend and I have never spent any time around a child so i was quite anxious about it lol but I think it gave me a some great insight in to what it would be like to have a child and I was shocked at how much energy they have, I spent the whole time playing games with them, cooking for them, cleaning after them, etc, I didn't get much rest at all and it took a lot out of me but I was very surprised at how well I handled it and how much I enjoyed it, I didn't want to give them back! Lol. So anyway I think it was good for me and it's really built up my confidence in myself that I will be able to handle it and be the mum I want to be.

As for the vasectomy reversal it isn't really an option for us as we only want one child plus he had his vasectomy almost 20 years ago so the chances of us getting pregnant naturally after a reversal arnt very high, so ivf to us seems like the best option. But thank you very much for the suggestions.
