Hi, and welcome! I have been taking NSAID's for 27 years. Two years ago I developed a bleeding ulcer and was told no more NSAID's. I did what the doctor suggested and my pain levels shot up through the roof. We tried Tramadol and also Vicodin and they didn't touch my pain. So, after about six months this became a quality of life issue. I spoke with my doctor and started taking NSAISD's (ibuprofen) again. He also has me taking prescription strength Pepcid AC and also another medication called Misoprostol. The Misoprostol is supposed to help prevent ulcers. Lastly I was put on a muscle relaxer...Robaxin...that helped me significantly with pain.
I now am only needing 600 mg of ibuprofen twice a day because of the muscle relaxer. I ALWAYS take it with food and so far so good. I haven't had any problems. I am checked frequently for anemia and such but am doing quite well at the moment.
I hope this helps you.
