I think my general pain tolerance is greater -- by which I mean what I used to consider a 3 (B.F. - before Fibro) now feels like a 1, and what I used to consider a B.F. 7 is now a 5 or 6.
Everyone says labor is the worst pain, but it's just not true: 1) you know labor WILL be over soon (and putting up with the children you birthed is a different kind of pain entirely); 2) the pains are horribly intense for 30-60 seconds and then you get a break for a few minutes with very little pain; 3) at the end of labor, you have a BABY, so there's something to show for the pain and 4) people are constantly surrounding you and saying things like, "How's your pain? Are you SURE you don't want more pain meds?" No one says, "Oh, it's all in your head" or "Maybe you're just depressed" or "Everyone has aches and pains now and then."
Plus, people don't choose to have Fibro more than once :)
