Fibro cysts

I have always had cysts with fibro...they developed at the same time the disease became really active..do we all get these painful cysts or am i just lucky?

What do you do for them? I use topical pain relievers on them, anything else?

I've never heard of this either. Have you had this checked out? I sure don't think it's fibro causing this.

Do you mean little painful lumps in your muscles? If so, they are referred to as "trigger points," at least by many here on the forum, stemming from the book called The Trigger Point Handbook.
They can be massaged out by a skillful massage therapist and that provides much relief for me. I get them in my upper arms along my dorsal muscles.

Others i know with fibro also have these..a couple were external, had them removed... The others are internal, they become very tender and swell

Don't think they are the same thing as trigger points which are tender muscles, These lumps are usually associated with arthritis more than fybro, and are called NODULES I have them in my finger joints and they are very painful sad

No i get some therapy on trigger points...these are cysts which dr has seen..they appeared as i changed from passive fibro to very active fibro..they are not on joints but in soft tissue

Has he taken a biopsy of them?
I used to have a nueroma(?) on my ankle in my teens. The doctor told me it was a bundle of dead nerves with a live nerve wrapped in it. That's why it hurt so much. I also had one on my neck as a baby. They are both there today because my parents thought it was too risky to get them out when I was younger. They don't hurt me anymore.

Are you talking about fatty tumors? I had one removed from my upper arm and another one (about the size of a duck egg) removed from my upper thigh. And I have a 1" one on my sacrum that they can't remove without taking off the upper part of the sacrum. They have biopsied it is benign. It does cause pain, though. So they monitor it with MRIs to see if it grows. So far it hasn't.

What is the difference between the two terms "passive" fibro and "active" fibro?

I have fibro knots. I think that they are the same thing. I have them close to my joints, like on my arms, legs and back... I have them on my tummy too. They don't bother me, I don't like the way that they look though. I don't mess with them.

I don't know the dr s always called them cysts.. As diff betweeen passive and active....when younger had symptoms but not a lot of pain...then it seemd like once i i was terribly sick one winter..that it turned it all on...

If you mean fatty tumors(lipomas) then yes.I had one removed internally from my abdomen that caused a LOT of pain.I have read somewhere that it is more common for us.

Whether they are cysts, knots or fatty tumors, I have them all over. They really don't bother me but I don't like the way that they look. Though I probably notice them more than other people do.

Interesting. The year I got married, I decided to get a couple of cysts removed (one for cosmetics - it would be visible in my wedding photos, and one because it burst. So painful). By the end of the year, I had Fibro. I think it's a coincidence but I am intrigued...

Yes I have one cyst behind my knee, one on my lower spine, one near my privates and big ones on both ankles. All of them appeared four years ago when I was diagnosed.

Yes, I have fibromyalgia and many many cysts all over.
I have them in my upper arms, legs, buttock, back, I have lots of breast cysts. All very painful. I have had biopsies, I have had one lanced and drained, I have had 2 remove.
I have had massages which was painful for days afterwards, and I had bruises all over from it. When pressure is put on the cysts they burst and you end up with a bruise, or if you bump them they burst and you get a bruise.
One thing I do have, which my Dr believes is connected with fibromyalgia is high iron levels. Does anyone else have high iron?

I have read that there are many variations of this disease..so i guess some of us have cysts..while others have none..

Cold laser seems to reduce their size and also treat some of the tenderness
