Welcome, spacecadet!
Great thinking, Myself 09. Yes, it takes some time to figure out the best way to deal with fibro--lots of ongoing trial and error, and things change constantly.
Pacing is a big thing. You don't have to clean an entire room at once, but which part is the most urgent to get done? In the morning, I make sure I do anything ahead of time for meal prep, or if there's a specific thing I need to do "today." Keeping a list is really helpful. Don't worry if you can't do it all; just do what you can.
Alternating standing and sitting helps a lot on a bad day. On the better days, I try to keep moving as much as I can.
Your post reminded me of this past weekend. I went to a large flea market and walked....and walked...and walked. Thankfully, it was a fairly warm day, though very breezy. I made sure ahead of time that I dressed for the weather. I had a good time, but I nearly could not climb into the car afterwards!
I went home and took a warm bath, which relaxed my muscles. Even today, my leg muscles are achy, but not the worst. I told my husband about my legs still hurting and he seemed to take it that if I walked more, I wouldn't have the problem because my legs would get used to it. Nope! I told him, with fibro, muscles often don't 'bounce back' to where they should be. I think he understood, but I do think it's difficult for non-fibromites to always 'get' it; they really don't know our pain, which is different from the norm.
This may help to explain fibro to others:
