Ok I'm real nervous about this as I haven't worked since I had my son 8 months ago and all this fibro started, but I was offered and amazing opportunity that's extremely hard to pass up and I won't have to be on my feet much at all mainly a desk job. I'm real nervous about all this fibro causing me problems and making it hard to work ....I'm still only taking the Robaxin 1 in the am and 1 at night and it seems to help for maybe the first hour then nothing. My Dr gave me gabapentin and that did not go well made me sick so I'm refusing to take that. I am still waiting on my rx for my vitamin d as it needed a prior authorization for my insurance to pay. So I'm still In pain lately not too bad just alot of tingling/ zinging feeling like I'm sitting down and I will get this sharp needled like feeling in my hand/fingers or on the bottom of my foot, or today I started getting the feeling in my for arm and occasionally in my leg/calf and knee area it's real weird and my hands have been falling asleep alot lately? :'( I really want this job. I have completed so much more schooling then I ever thought I would to have my career and this so far is the highest paying opportunity I have got since getting my degree , my husband is extremely proud and supportive of my decision to want to take the job and continue my life like normal , I'm just worried this crazy illness is acting up and don't want it to interfere with this new job. I really hate my primary care dr he doesn't seem to really understand the pain with this and I hate to go in yet again and complain about this medicine in hopes for something else :-( . Not sure about that......

I also have another question kinda personal but has anyone had any change in the urine/urinary frequency or acne at all? I've never had acne and I've suddenly been getting it every where :-( just curious if these two are maybe fibro related or just stress? Thanks for listening !

Sounds to me your decision has been made. I can tell you really want to go for it. So. ... just do it. Put away the what if thinking and the fear. Those 2 things alone will sabotage you before you even begin. You will regret not trying. If it works out awesome! !! If not , ok , but at least you tried right?

I do hope you can find a Dr. That is more understanding of this condition and willing to try different approaches.
Not sure about the frequent urinating or acne. Sounds more stress related to me. Do let us know of your decision.

I agree. Just go for it. You have gone to school and deserve it.
I have been at my job for 11 years and have been concerned, the severity of fibro has increased 10 fold in the last year, but I just keep truckin and things are going well.

I also understand about the doctor thing. I live in a small town so that leaves us with little choice but the angels must have been on my side because I have finally gotten the best doctor in the area who not only cares but doesn't just throw medication at things. I sure wish you well in finding a doctor who can meet your needs. Keep looking.

I pee every time I stand up but I think that has to do with other things, have been that way for years.

Do wish you success in your new job. If you did not try out the job you would always be thinking about it. Do get up and stretch a bit at work. If you can, get outside at lunch time.

If you are on meds for a time your Doctor might check to see how your kidneys and liver are functioning. You are not on many meds. You can always tell your Doctor about changes when you have your next appointment. I always make notes for my Headache and Pain Relief Doctor. He doesn't keep them, it is just for me not to forget.

I used to get numbness in my hands when I slept. That is because of the carpal tunnel. I wear wrist braces to bed and I don't get the numbness anymore. I also get tingling in my hands that comes and goes. I try to exercise my hands. It passes eventually. I get a burning pain in my arm. It is from a fall early this year. Hurt my elbow badly. I don't have sharp pain but I would say I have intense pain.

Have you been checked for diabetes? It can cause Neuropathy and often the feet are involved.

My Mom told me years ago that you can have acne in old age too. If it is bad a Dermatologist could help. There are so many products you can buy to treat acne. I do have a medication that I use sparingly when I have troubles with acne.

You can take d3 until they get it figured out with insurance..and get 15 minutes of sun any day you can....

I wonder if you called and let them know the gaba is not working for you, ask if you could try low dose tramadol. You might not have to go in to get them to try a change...i cut that pill in 4ths and take 1 dose in small amounts through the day...

The vit d works slow but i noticed a difference in a few weeks..

They have done a full and complete blood work up and nothing ever was said about being diabetic, I tell my dr all this and every answer is its fibro? My feet here lately have hurt sometimes it feels like I'm walking like a robot, and almost feels like a heel spur but it doesn't do it all the time really just depends on the shoes I wear from what I've noticed , and any type of heel or boot or anything with a heel kills me to wear them. And the acne hmmm could just be me stressing out I'm 29 and all this stuff being so new could be the cause of that, was just curious because I've never had problems with it till now.

Many people can work with fibro. Some cannot. There is no way to tell in advance. So, just do it.

Much of the physical, repetitive work is very difficult. A desk job is do-able for many; Be aware that periodic movement and stretching will be necessary.

I just wanted to tell you that you can buy vitamin D over the counter. This is whole vitamin D which comes in 5000 or 50,000 units. This is very cheap. I buy mine at a private pharmacy in town. No need for a prescription. Just remember to get your vitamin D rechecked after you been on them for awhile.

So glad to hear about your job! Just remember to walk and stretch frequently. Acne can be stress related. There are many products on the market to help acne. Sometimes you can get urinary tract infection if your symptoms are frequent urination.

Good luck on your job! Just remember to rest after getting home for a short time. Get a good night sleep too.

Thank you! I will have to go get some then it's been since last Friday and they still haven't received approval for the prior Auth and my energy level is horrible lately. I will definitely get some the faster I can get that going the better. Thanks so much :-)

Do you take any other supplements? Magnesium may help you a lot with the aches and pains. You can take a warm bath in epson salt, not only does it help but a little time to yourself can do wonders for helping you relax (especially once you start working again).

It took a lot for me to get going again. The first couple of years with Fibro I was in such bad shape I couldn't do anything, even keep up with my job that I worked from home (self-employed). Once I started feeling better after making major diet/lifestyle changes it still took me a couple of years to get to a point where I felt comfortable adding a new responsibility - I went back to school full time as of this past summer. I'm pulling it off. It just takes a lot of focus to stay on track. Of course, I don't have any kids so that I know that helps. My attitude is don't let Fibro hold you back, don't give it the power to run your life. Do what you want to do, until you absolutely can't.

Your question about acne and urinary issues make me wonder if you might be also dealing with some hormone issues. Have you talked to your gyno about what's going on? You mentioned your GP sucks so maybe the gyno can be more help. Shortly after I started improving my Fibro symptoms I developed new symptoms that include abdominal pain. I went in circles trying to find an answer and still really haven't. Along the way, however, I found out I have Endometriosis, it really screws with my hormones. I've probably always had it but being on the pill kept it in check for decades then thanks to all the meds for Fibro causing my blood pressure to go insane I had to go off the pill, so the endo went crazy. From what I understand, having a baby can also cause changes to your hormones, so whatever the cause it's worth talking with your gyno.
