Hi,
I am a newbie on this forum and I have suffered with fibromyalgia for nearly 16 years now....
I hurt and ache mostly around my shoulders and neck and have alot of headaches. I was just recently told to
take low dose naltrexone 1.5 which would supposedly help with my condition. I was just wondering whether anyone could tell me why I have been getting thrush (candida) more often now.....
It is really annoying and I was thinking maybe the ldn is causing it or just getting rid of it from my body?

I would love to hear from anyone who could help?

Hi Sue and welcome,
Unfortunately I can't help you with your question. I have read about LDN and all I see is good things. I mentioned it to my Dr. One time and she looked at me and said. Hmmm never heard of it. From what I understand it's hard to get ahold of.

Anyway hopefully someone comes along whom may know about this. I just wanted to say welcome. Sorry you're hear dealing with the fibro, but our members are awesome and you'll learn alot. Please check out fibro 101 if you haven't already. 1st thread on the forum.

I have been having issues with my mouth for about 7 months now. My dentist first told me it was thrush and prescribed Diflucan. Since that didn't seem to help I went to my regular doctor. He told me he thought it was thrush, also, but if the (longer) dose of Diflucan didn't help he would send me to a specialist. It didn't help. The specialist gave me Clotrimazole Throches to dissolve in my mouth for thrush, but thought it may be Lichen Planus Oral. He mentioned that people with Fibro tend to get this. I have to go back to him today for a follow up and I am fully expecting him to refer me to a dermatologist for the Lichen Planus since it hasn't gotten any better.

Hi, Carnegiegirl, and welcome! Sometimes medications can cause this...especially antibiotics. The antibiotics kill all bacteria...good as well as bad. So you might want to try taking a probiotic and see if that helps. Also, if you like yogurt, that might help too.

Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there.

I've been diagnosed with fibro since the 1990's. I had a patch there where I had thrush six times in a row. I also had some problems with yeast in my throat... this was found when they scoped my throat due to some esophageal problems that I was having. I guess I never thought about it having to do with my fibromyalgia! I don't know what LDN is. I had to end up going on a complete gluten free diet, dairy free, sugar free, a candida diet. It finally stopped the thrush.

The probiotic is a really good idea. Your local health food store is a good place to find one, preferable one that is refrigerated with billions of bacteria.

Hi and welcome.

I've only had thrush once when I took a strong antibiotic with a steriod. It was prescribed when my asthma was really bad. It's awful and irritating as can be.

I was prescribed a nystatin oral rinse.. I had to gargle it and hold it in my mouth. I was also told to stay away from sugar and sweets- including white bread.

I sure do hope you find something that works for you! It has to be frustrating.
