That is a terrific and thoughtful gift.
I see a deep muscle massage therapist 2xs per month. She is trained in fibro and R.A. Issues and muscle therapy. I used to see a chiropractor as well (i have 2 crushed vertebrae), but I am realizing now that as the first real Fibro flares onset, it became too painful and most of my issues were in the soft tissue.
I think a good massage therapist is worth their weight in gold. Mine finds bad spots by touch and over time has kept track and notices changes to tell me so I can keep track. When I was diagnosed with CRPS, she did research to make sure she was aware of the issues and how to help me. One week, the edema in my arm muscles was very bad. She suggested I talk to the doc about it and suggested some stretches that have helped. She is careful not to cross the line into diagnosis, but she also makes sure she knows what she can do to help.
I have not used Massage Envy, but I know there are different types of massage therapists. A 1 year subscription allows you to build a relationship and get the person you need. My only piece of advice: Dont be afraid to ask questions about techniques and names of techniques. With my memory, I keep a basic diary to remind me of what works so I can tell them what I need.
Congratulations! Let us know how it goes.
