How many of us have the flu like symptoms with fibro?

I hear some saying they have flu like symptoms with fibro, but i always thought that was more cfs.?

People that i know with fibro do not also have the flu like symptoms on an ongoing basis... So reading this here made me wonder about it.

If by flu-like symptoms you mean that achy, I got run over by a truck feeling...yep that's how I feel a lot of times. I have not been diagnosed with CFS, but would not be surprised if I do have it. I absolutely feel worlds better when I can get more than 4-5 hours of sleep; lots of times that's all I can get though.

I have terrible flu-like symptoms and I believe that I also have CFS as I also have post exersize malaise. My flu symptoms include achyness of course, but I also get a headache, my eyes hurt, I feel real sick to my stomach, I am tired. Really I have all the flu symptoms except I don't throw up. For a while, before I got diagnosed, I thought maybe it was chemical poisoning from all the fertilizer the crop dusters spray in my area as the symptoms are the same as that.

I have read on some sites that fibro can have flu symptoms. My Dr. insists that I only have fibro and not CFS, but I think he is wrong. My flu symptoms are more debilitating for me than my fibro pain and I really have to watch what I eat, and how stressed I allow my body or mind to get as it doesn't take much to set it off. It is mostly the flu symptoms that will put me in bed for days or weeks at a time. Last winter I was sick for 8 months, could hardly leave the couch.

Glad most of you don't have to deal with it.

I feel fluish when I overdo, absolutely. I've asked my doctor about it a couple of times, and he says, "Yep, that happens, and we don't know why." So I try to pace myself and not worry when it happens...and, inevitably, it does.

The symptoms I get are all-over weakness, sleepiness, a sore throat, stuffed-up head, loss of appetite and slight nausea. And, of course, if my overdoing was physical, there will be increased pain. I can't think straight (even more than usual) and can't enjoy anything. I'm also more likely to start a genital herpes outbreak during this time. Good times! ;(

It usually only lasts for a day, maybe two.

I also get the sore throat, stuffiness and brain fog. If I look at a list of symptoms I can tell you what I get, but if I have to think of them, I can only remember half of them - guess that is a symptom too....

I get the hit by a truck, but I have also experienced temp increases/low grade fever which I attribute to chronic viruses (Cyto, EBV, etc) turning acute again. A lot of us have underlying chronic viruses, and can present as flu or Fibro. It's a mess! Lol

With my lupus I get low grade fevers and flu like blahs.

The thing that bothers me the most about my fibromyalgia is the Fibro fog. I have a huge problem getting up and actually concentrating first thing in the morning. I was given Modafinil for this but is it tends to make me jittery, so I cant take it every day.

After that, it would be the fatigue. When I get a good say, it is very hared not to overdo because I dont know when I will get another.

Other things, like dizzyness, nausea, and pain are problematic, but I feel I have more control with them.

I have the flu like symptoms for weeks at a time...about 9-10 times a year. My longest flu flare up was 5 weeks. Sometimes I only have days or weeks between flare ups. I feel achy all over, a general feeling of very severe malaise and extreme tiredness. The episodes always start out with a sore throat, and the aches in my chest area is more severe than the rest of my body. Sometimes I also have ear aches. I also have chronic fatigue though.
