New to forum

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I was diagnosed years ago with fibromyalgia but it has really taken its toll the past year. My husband doesn't really "get it" so I ended up on your site looking for others like me. It's really tough when you don't have support at home. I had to stop working so that helps me because I still do all of the normal household stuff. I have a 15 and 16 year old and I do as much as I can to be "normal" for them. Just knowing that there are others like me helps.

Hi Girlzilla, yes my kids are very helpful. :) Sometimes I don't know what I'd do without them, especially my daughter. Thanks for asking! If you don't mind my asking what is balsalazide disodium?

Thanks Joy! Lucky for him he hardly ever gets sick!! I think that's one of the things that makes it so hard for him to understand. That and " you look fine". Sometimes I wish I had a cast..... Lol

Hello, Mom of 2. Welcome - you've come to a good place for support.

Have you noticed the first thread on the list, "Fibro 101"? It's full of helpful info about Fibro - all kinds of stuff. I still go back from time to time, because I don't remember - um, what was I saying? ;) The brain (or Fibro) fog is thick tonight.

I understand about your husband. Mine is the same way. He doesn't mean to be unhelpful, but I have to ask for pretty much every little thing....and then he'll usually do it - one thing at a time, that is, if it's at the right time. He gets tired of me asking, I get tired of me asking, and there we are. A lot just doesn't get done. After 30 or so years, he still doesn't really get it, though he believes me - in theory.

But rest assured, all of us here do get it! I hope you'll keep posting, so we can get to know you better.

I have been living with chronic pain for over 12 years. Fibromyalgia is just compounding things. I do have reasons for the pain. My Husband and I just have the two of us now. He will never really know how much pain I live with. He did have a taste of pain when he had shingles. He never used to get sick and if he felt like he was catching a cold he would overcome it with a cup of tea with rum. His stressful job does takes a toll on him now. He will be 65 this year. One day, your Husband will age and that's when he may have some health challenges of his own. Everybody is different. Our illness is invisible so people have trouble relating to what we go through.

I used to do everything myself. It isn't necessarily the right way. I just never minded working away. My Husband now helps. He can do laundry and could shop on his own. He still after over 40 years hasn't a clue where anything is in the house. When he asks I tell him, I don't just fetch it for him.

If I am tired I can be grumpy. We battle with fatigue.

I am pretty sure your weather is better than ours at the moment. We are so cold and got a lot of snow yesterday when we woke up. I am impacted by severe wind.
