Hi all I'm new to this group and have been having really bad issues with what the Docs believe is my Fibro, I wasn't so sure until I started reading this forum. I have been experiencing HORRIBLE forearm and lower leg pain.. A shredding feeling that brings me to tears. No meds have worked and I haven't slept well since it started Dec 1, 2014. I have been to every doc on the planet.. Brain MRI was normal, but still need spine one... I am just wondering if any Fibro people have bilateral forearm pain, weakness and almost paralysis. I have days I can not use my arms at all. Driving, getting dressed, working.. it all is undoable. I am just looking for answers and if it is my Fibro so be it.. just want to make sure docs weren't just saying that because they have no idea what it is.. I have all over inflammation, even my uterus.. all tests were normal for lupus and RA, although I am on the cusp for RA in terms of numbers.. headaches are always there but to be honest the least of my issues.. I have been diagnosed since 2000 and can't understand what sent me in this direction, unless others have had this too..
Docs have a hard time with me because my bloods never break through.. even with Celiac's.. was tested on and off for years and got mixed results.. eventually I just removed all gluten (since Oct 2013). That was like magic and now I am back to being in worse pain than I ever had been before...I don't need to talk about
the fatigue or overwhelming brain fog. I am sure you all have had those joys touch your life.. lol. ..
Recently removed Eggs, Peas, and all night shade veggies from diet, (since Dec 10, 2014)..
Please help me!!! I am find docs to be ignoring my issues... and this is effecting my job, I run a medical ultrasound imaging practice.. try that for a stress free job.. LOL...
Any help you can suggest I am all ears...
Thanks

Hi, I don't read this forum often, joined awhile ago to share some info. Yes, bilateral pain in muscles and tendons is usually a sign of fibromyalgia. I have written a couple of long posts about
the mind-body importance of healing and self-responsiblilty as very empowering, you might be able to find something helpful there. For my fibromyalgia pain I use guaifeniseb (I don't follow the avoidance protocol except for aspirin) and malic acid with magnesium. They help me a lot. The malic acid, a natural product, converts the lactic acid in the muscles and tendons to malic acid. Its the lactic acid that the cellular pumps can't eliminate that causes much of the intense muscle pain. Like you have been exercising for hours, a similar feeling. It also may be related to the feelings of exhaustion. When I have a really bad day, occassionally, I take one half to one 50mg tramadol capsule. It seems to be one of the few pain killers that works for many people with fibromyalgia. It also increases serotonin in the brain and doesn't dull the mind or senses. If any of this information helps that will be good. Also, just a thought, you might want to change your forum name to something more positive about
yourself. The words of our mouth and the thoughts about
ourselves are importasnt and do have an effect. Every thing is energy and matter(s)! All the best, Barbara in NZ

Hi Plentyofpain, I'm sorry you are in so much pain. I'm not sure what is going on, but I do know that inflammation isn't part of fibromyalgia. When I had a different job that required me to be on the computer a lot, I had a lot of pain in my right arm from my wrist to the elbow that later felt like a pinched nerve from my neck to my wrist, and I couldn't use my hand at times to do simple things like
open a can of pop or hold a pen. That decreased when I stopped that job, but I still have minor pain in my wrist when I overdue it on the computer. Have you looked at things that can be mistaken for fibro on fibro 101 yet? Also, google differential diagnosis for fibro to see if anything makes sense for you. Calcium and magnesium before bed have helped my body aches a little. Good luck to you. Hang in there!

I am having extreme pain in my left arm for over a week. I did see my Nurse Practitioner last week. I have two complicating health problems, osteoarthritis in my neck and fibromyalgia. My N.P. suggests that I might have brushed a nerve. I do have problems on C5-6 of my neck. It was thought that the OA might be the cause of my chronic headaches.
Have your doctors noticed signs of Osteoarthritis? You mentioned several tests you have had done , including RA and Lupus.
I cannot diagnose you, can only relate what is happening to me. I have been taking Magnesium supplements. I have been using Magnesium Glycinate and Magnesium Calm. I bought today a brand with Malic Acid in it also. I will have to see if it helps. I am not on pain meds but had a small amount (30) of Tramadol prescribed 2 years ago. They are 50 mg and I cut them in half. Have had to use some with this arm pain. I will see my Headache and Pain Relief Doctor soon. I will discuss what to do next. I was told there are issues with taking Nortriptyline and Tramadol. Some people who post on the forums do take both and find them helpful. My N.P. said to increase my NSAID and Muscle Relaxer to see if it helps.
I do not have enough flexibility in my neck to be able to drive. I still have a license. Doctors can force a removal for medical reasons. They have not done that with me as they know I won't and don't drive. I am trying to gain flexibility.
Yes, being in pain is very limiting. Keep working with your Doctors to find something that will ease your symptoms.
Take care.

Hi, plentyofpain, and welcome to the forum. I'm glad you found us! Not glad for your pain, of course.
First off, let me direct you to our first thread, "Fibro 101." It's a wealth of info on Fibro - what they think is going on with us, possible symptoms, how to cope, etc. etc. You might see yourself there, or maybe not.
I've actually been having a lot of pain in my arms, too, lately. I get an awful, weak feeling - but it's in my whole arms, and I don't know if they're truly weak, because I've long been unable to lift much at all without increased pain - and then if I put my left forearm down on a desk, it hurts like I've torn the skin off! With the right one, it's more of a sensitive elbow thing.
A couple of years ago, I developed a "frozen shoulder," which started out as bicep pain and spread to where I could barely lift my arm. It pretty much "thawed" on its own, thankfully. It happens when adhesions grow around the shoulder socket, and it's really painful. Sometimes it's from an injury, but mine wasn't.
Fibro is such a strange illness...no 2 of us have exactly the same symptoms, or exact same measures that help us to function. But that Fibro 101 thread should help you, as well as the other responses I'm sure you'll be getting shortly.
I hope you'll keep posting - we're here to help.

THank you all so much... I am really trying to stay positive and not let this take me down.. I have been reading a lot and meditating at night before bed.. but still doesn't seem to work with stress reduction.. As far as vitamins mentioned I do not take those, will Def get them.. I am very into nutrition and vitamins, but in dec when I got so sick I stopped everything except for vitamin d, because my levels were extremely low.. which could account for pain.. I just wish I could figure it out.. clearly it could just be the Fibro and of course we are all different, it just seems so weird to me for it to switch on the way it did, but hey maybe I am getting older.. lol.. was 21 and single when I got diagnosed and now I'm 36 with 2 kids.. Def a different life.. T
Thank you all for your support I am so happy I found this site.. I will check out the Fibro 101 post several of you mentioned... Hope you all feel better too...

Vitamin d was 10 it supposed to be 30. Havent been retested to see
If taking them is making a difference. With my uterus I went to ob back in oct because all of a sudden i stopped getting my period. Never had an issue my whole life. They did sonos and biopsy and said my uterus was inflammed and put me on antibiotic to help before i had a D&C because of a large polyp in. The only time in the last 3 months i have felt better was two days after taking antibiotic. Which lead me to think I had a parasite because i was having bad intestinal issues during this pain issue. Turns out all those tests were negative. So im back at the fibro.

Ok fibro is bad enough, but low vit d can be the worst...
10 is really low and its symptoms can take months to resolve even after your numbers get back to normal.
My worst symptoms with the d, were weakness, fatigue, dizziness, forgetfulness, and way worse pain!!!
I believe i read that 30 is even a low number but considered normal.
