I really think I have Fibromyalgia but have never been diagnosed. Can you tell me the symptoms and how you knew. Thanks

Pain in arms, legs, neck, chest, shoulders, jaw, and head. The pain waxes and wanes through-out the day. And, the pain moves around. All tests came back normal. MRI's, ultrasounds, and a lot of blood work. My doctor finally referred me to a pain specialist with a background in neurology. I was then finally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.

Hiya Deb, Nice to see ya over here. :) Here is the link in the resouce thread about symptoms, pretty much you have pain in all 4 quadrants of the body for 3 months or more. And are tested for other things to rule out things that mimic fibro, since there is no test for fibro.

Check the link in the resource page for symptoms.

Diagnosis is usually done by a rheumatologist. Some PCPs will do initial testing and then refer you to a rheumie.

I had a lot of tests done before they diagnosed me with Fibro. The symptoms that lead up to it - new headaches / stabbing in the eye (later diagnosed as cluster headaches), parasthesia (numbness/tingling) in hands and arms, general feeling of fatigue and unwellness, overall achiness (like the flu). Eventually, I got in front of a rheumatologist (after I requested it) that checked the tender points and sent me off with a Fibro dx.

I was diagnosed by a rheumatologist . My symptoms at first I noticed the widespread pain(mine was deep achy), and fatigue. Then fibro fog, temperature sensitivity and recently I notice my thresholds are lower on pain, physical stress, mental stress , social and emotional . I can't multi task anymore or focus clearly. social situations feel draining .

I think I'm really lucky. I had no idea I had it until I went to the doc. For as long as I can remember I've had bursitis in both shoulders, random sharp pains throughout my body, constant sore muscles, tension/migraine headaches, constantly exhausted, bad upper back pain, IBS, acid reflux, endometriosis(sp?), joint pain and a bunch of other things that I know I'm forgetting. Finally had a job where I could afford ins, so went to doc about my back and got the fibro dx that was confirmed by a rheumatologist.

Had over 4 years of multiple tests done before Rheumatologist diagnosed.

Bree, i had bursitis, and tendonitis, big time.. I still use topical pain relievers on my tendons..at the time the rheumy did not seem to know that was in the fibro realm ...but its considered part of it now.
