Just to provide counterpoint (or shoe that we are all different), I am good with Tramadol and Benadryl. However, I had hideous nightmares and voracious appetite on Gabapentin which many people here do very well with. I am on Lyrica.
A couple of thoughts:
One of the keys to tracking everything down is logging/recording everything.. Docs often dismiss a symptom until they know how long and how often. If you helped her keep a log of everything, including food (in a non judgmental way) it might help the doc track down the issue. I took a few days and wrote everything up, and my husband added to it. I tracked what I took, what every doctor said, etc. for a while, my husband went with me to my doc apps. Not a male/female thing - I do it for him too. But two of you remember more and think of more questions. There are also free android and iOS apps if it makes it easier/more fun. I do best with just typing it up.
Some things might be triggers that set off other things.. I have multiple issues and it was a trick narrowing down what belonged to what. It sometimes makes a difference in what you take.
Have you tried mayo fascias pain release? It has done wonders for me. You could help her with it, but she could also learn to do on her own. If you search the forums, you will find explanations obit from Sherrine, one of our moderators. She is great with it. Also, finding some methods to work through her pain might help her feel in control. That was a big frustration for me until I found some things to help me cope.
Lastly, have you tried heat? I find that is always my last line of defense. I have a twin heated blanket because the hubby doesn't like/need the heat. I have heating pads that help teemendously. This has been a brutal winter and it was tough to find relief.
I use a TENS unit. I have different ones for different things. I find straight tens helps myCRPS and the OmrOn EMS Helps my muscles.
If exercises are hurting, may be try physical therapy just with stretching. It's what I do on bad flare days. What works for her you would have to find out.
I wish you both luck in your search. Let us know how it goes.,
