Hello All,

I was dx'd with fibro about 6 weeks ago after a few years of pain and tests.  I've been coming out and checking out this forum for the last few months and thought I'd join in and hopefully add some constructive comments.

Hello everyone

I'm super glad I found this sight. A lot of people have told me that I'm too young to have fibro, well shoot! Can't do anything about it. I'm had it since I was in my early 20's and now I'm in my early 30's and have three kids. I never had insurance and couldn't afford to go to the doctor, well I finally did go and once my hubby joined the AF. All those years of pain, it got worse with each kid and finally was able to get on cymbalta. I take cymbalta for Fibro, a probiotics for any intestinal issues and melatonin for sleep. It has taken years of change meds around to see what will work. Oh man was I happy that I was able to get out of bed without my feet and toes hurting, I cried I was so happy. I am excited to help others with my experience. For many years I denied that fact that i had it and never told anyone. Well, here I stand.

Hi, Kelvin, and welcome! I'm so glad you decided to join us. I was a lurker at first too but now I've been here for over 10 years. We have wonderful members who love to help one another and, as a bonus, we really do care about one another too. I think you will like it here.

Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. Good starting links would be Symptoms and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia. You just might see yourself there. All of Fibro 101 is good so do read it.

Thank you everyone for you warm welcome!
A little background:
1. Man in my mid fifties from MN.
2. Various back and hip work/tests done including an RFA and some shots
3. Heading to the Mayo Clinc for their RFA classes
4. Work fulltime at a desk job
5. Am in constant painover most of my body, but is mostly manageable
I'll add more later.

Nice to meet you and welcome. I'd be curious to know what you think of Mayo. My husband and I are discussing as an option.

I work at a desk full time too. Working a lot to balance movement and work demands so I don't stiffen up.

Glad to see you join.

Also .... welcome to Mizu. I caught the note there as well.

Hi and welcome,

Love to hear back what mayo has to say..whats RFA ?

Its often trial and error , what helps one does not work for another, but keep trying and you can get some relief.

I get about half my help from my doc and half from self help measures and at times a gentle manipulation physical therapy.

Thanks for the welcome.

RFA (radio frequency ablation) is a procedure where they burn some nerves to reduce pain. In my case they burned some near the center of my spine. It's been about 6 months now and it's the only place where I have almost no pain. The nerves do grow back eventually.

I just had a physical and am waiting to hear from Mayo. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

I, too, am new and I have to say there is so much good info on this site. It has helped me to not feel so alone or like all my symptoms are in my head. Welcome!
