As for watch stopping you might be one of those rare people who have an unusual magnetic field. I've heard of it, but never seen it.
This is a snippet from headscratchers.com.....
"I used to help with research at the Stanford University sleep labs, and built amplifiers and impedance matching widgets to interface electrodes to the polygraphs. One thing that becomes very clear in that environment is that different people have different baseline amounts of skin conductance. Your friend may have a higher level of minerals in her perspiration, that causes a capacitor-like effect within the watch (from humidity perhaps), creating a drain on the battery. You could ask her if she finds silver jewelry hard to wear because it tarnishes quickly. It could be related. Skin conductance or mineral content can cause current to flow between unlike conductive materials - any plumber knows that copper and galvanized pipes create a battery when soldered together. You can feel it if you touch aluminum foil to your silver fillings. It might be a similar phenomenon. It's called the galvanic affect. These are guesses, of course. But I think it's a real phenomenon for some people."
