Gabapentin and Brain Synapses?

This article was written in 2009 so I'm wondering if anyone had read it?

Another article said that synaptic plasticity is a key feature of nerve architecture that enables your brain to tolerate stress, recover from trauma, and make changes.

Is the relief we find from the Gabapentin going to cause long term damage to our brains?

Thanks for the link. I will read it. I was on Lyrica for two years. My Doctor took me off of it due to weight gain. I did read one article that suggested that long term use of Lyrica could cause nerve damage. I did ask my Doctor about it. He didn't think so. For Lyrica it was a relatively new medication when I began using it. I was the first person prescribed it at my small Pharmacy that I use. It takes so many years of use for reasonable outcomes to be determined. Everyone is different in how meds effect them. For most of us we are trying to find a way to function and yes, we try different meds and supplements in hopes that something will help even if only in a small way.

It's hard to know what to do sometimes (so I continue to pray). I only take the Gabapentin at night to tone down the pain so I can sleep. I still can't get to sleep until 2am or later but it's better than no sleep at all. I dropped down from 900 mg. to 600 mg. Next step (after company leaves) is to drop to 300 mg. and then hopefully only to take as needed. The pain is getting worst.

LOVE my heating pads! And my CD's that I listen to at night when I can't sleep.
