How many of you still work full-time jobs?
How many of those jobs require physical labor?
How many are on SSD?

Just curious how it may look in the future.

I was an elementary school teacher.
Not a hard job, but required me to be active and alert at all times.

I'm on SSD now.

I have been working there with this for about five years now measurably. I am still able to hold down a full-time job. However I am a lucky enough to work at home as a technical project manager. I work a lot of hours, but I am able to make it work because I'm at home. Although admittedly, some days are a real bear. I don't feel like getting up here when I do get up like we've a bit till everything settles in with meds, etc. even then I often have a problem where it takes another couple of hours before my brain really kicks in.

Its worth it, but some days I have doubts.

I have worked since my diagnosis.

My jobs have changed, somewhat. I was a grad student (3 years), then a professor (7), and now a substitute teacher (2). I am hoping I got a new job, which would be with a private school.

There is a lot of sitting, and some physical labor, as my discipline makes it necessary to move items and do movement in the classroom. However, my brain must be engaged.

I can manage most of the time. Long days are hard for me. Stress is real killer, which is why I am no longer affiliated with university.

I am not on SSD.

I haven't worked since 2003. I filed for disability in 2007 was denied and never fought it. I then again applied in 2012 and am still waiting for it to go thru, it was denied again at the state level so appealing it on the federal level, Lawyer says it could take 15 months, so about 9 months to go now. I'm applying for SSI this time since I don't have the work credit's anymore for SSDI.

I am on SSD. I used to run my own small graphic design business, but found I just couldn't keep up with the deadlines and not being able to use my hands/arms 40% of the time. The brain fog made it hard to remember all the details as well dates/sizes/client names. I still do some volunteer work with it when my body allows it and that's what keeps me going I think.

Thank you all for your replies. I am a manager of a convenient store. I work on concrete floors all 10 hr shift. We lift 50 lbs. cases of water, soda, and beer for at least 3 he's a day. Then we lift trash that can be heavy. We clean toilets, gas pumps, ect.I have to fight to get through my day and it's getting harder everyday for me. I was thinking about applying for SSD but it seems hard to get besides I think I still can earn a pay check

The Labor Department can give you Vocational Rehabilitation Classes and help you find a job.

Other than taking a couple of months off when we moved to a new state I have worked through my diagnosis. Program evaluator at a university. Can be physical (it's culturally pushed that we stay active and walk to far away meetings, and I plan events for our unit). I would love to work PT and was just offered that but can't afford it at this time so I have been torturing myself (continuing to work despite increased ailments) while pretty much letting my husban take care of a lot of household stuff and not having much of a social life or really taking care of myself as I use to/need: massage, hair/nails, etc). I only have so much energy.

I'm 36 so SSD is pretty much not possible unless I come down with an additional diagnosis (mental health at my age doesn't make much of a difference to case outcomes).

Lost puppy, thats a good bit of heavy lifting with fibro...have you thought about looking for a job that woukd be less lifting?

You could probably keep working , just with less heavy lifting..just something to think about..

Yes I am looking into jobs u utilizing my degree. I have BA in psychology and 3certifications in corrections, not to mention I have been a manager for the last 5 years. I am keeping my options open and my prayers to God. It isn't easy finding out all of this stuff with FM my hat is off to each and every one of you ladies and gentlemen that are going through this affliction.

You might do good at a youth ranch For troubled teens. My niece is trying to get on one as a counselor.

I also continue to work. I am an elementary school teacher librarian. I love my job, but do find it difficult to power through each day, and spend weekends recuperating and the cycle begins each Monday. I really look forward to my 8 week vacation each summer. Don't know if I could do it without that guaranteed rest every year.

I still work full time as a computer worker.  Mostly sitting at a desk so I have to get up and move around often to, hopefully, keep the pain level down.
