Intestinal issues because of your fibro?

Hello just wondering if anyone has had an endoscopy because of stomach issues do to fibro? I will be having one tomorrow

I've had 3 of them due to Gerd. They're not bad if you're sedated. I did fight the doctor on the second one when they didn't put me deep enough. 😆

I have had one, as as Joy said, they're not bad. I had mine for painful issues after surgery for a ruptured appendix. I found out it was gastritis.

I had both a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy performed, starting with the colonosopy. Prep for the colonoscopy is the worst part; I don't even remember a thing about either procedure!

Really, if you're sedated, you only need to lie a certain way at first, then your work is done and it's time for a nap. It went incredibly easy for me.

Hi Jasflower, I've had both endoscopies done and colonoscopies. Like Luv mentioned, the prep is the hardest part. The procedure wasn't bad at all.

It was interesting that my first couple gastronologists diagnosed me with barrette's esophagus. My third gastronologist told me I didn't have it. I asked him if it could go away. He told me no, that the first couple doctors more than likely placed the scope down too far and it looked red.

Somethings can be a part of fibro; Other symptoms can be linked towards a different condition.

I get colonoscopies every two years due to Ulcerative Colitis/Crohn's Colitis. This condition pre-dated my fibro diagnosis.

I have had to have several because I have gerd as well as fibro. They are really not that bad. They did not sedate me enough during one of them, and I came partially awake mid-procedure, and just watched what was happening on the screen. I usually don't plan anything for the remainder of the day when I have them, as I am usually so groggy that I sleep the day away when I return home.

I never had any stomach issues until after I got Fibro. about a year after is started - I developed gastritis. I'm thinking probably from stress of having Fibro that first year. It has improved so my dr. has not ordered a endoscopy.

So I had my endoscopy today and you guy were right it's not bad at all... My gi dr said that he did not see anything but he did do a biopsy to check for bacteria... He also said that he has a lot of pts that see him with issues do to fibro

I've had a few of them and like others said the prep is the worst part (not eating and then drinking the prep drink). If you can start prepping a couple of days early by cleaning up your diet a bit (ask your doc about a low residue diet) that makes it go SO MUCH easier!

I've also got GERD and GI's have shown ulcers a couple of times, other times nothing. Fibro can affect every system in your body. They are finally starting to realize it's a neurological issue - meaning it affects your nerves and nerves are everywhere. Nerve issues can cause a lot of GI issues, bladder issues, and so much more.

I've had endoscopy done 6 times. We lived in Japan about 30 years, first 5 I had was there. Bleeding ulcers, I almost kicked off from blood loss. Ambulance guys came quick, saved me life.

Ok, y'all ready? Here's how they do it - cold turkey. I mean not so much as a shot of any kind. open ye mouth, and start swallowing the tube. See inside ye own stomach in real living color. I could even feel the heat from the light on end of camera. First time was rough. Second a bit better. Third through fifth time, I had it down, not much problem. Actually, I much prefer it this way! When the tube is out, ye're done.
