Hi, W77, and welcome! I've had Fibro for 28 years and have been diabetic for 25 years and my diabetes has not made my Fibro symptoms worse. But I do take good care of myself with all the illnesses I do have. I was overweight when diagnosed with diabetes and the weight...not the diabetes...was harder on my muscles, tendons, and ligaments so I lost a lot of weight. (85 pounds) My diabetes improved and so did my Fibro. So if you have extra weight, it would be good to lose some. You will be healthier all the way around.
I also am careful to check my blood sugar regularly and keep the diabetes totally under control. It can be done. This, in turn, helps me feel better all over. High blood sugar makes me very fatigued and I can't think when I'm fatigued. It would be easy to blame Fibro for that but if my blood sugar is elevated I know that is the cause. Once the numbers come back down I'm fine again. So do take good care of yourself and eat healthy. By the way, we have an excellent diabetes forum on HealingWell also if you are interested.
Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about Fibro and you will learn a lot there. A good starting link for you would be A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia. All of Fibro 101 is good so do read it.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
