does anyone else suffer from flank pain? i'm talking about
the area on your back; on the sides. this is new...very tender to the touch and is creating a lot of spasms. this is new for me and i'm not sure if it's fibro-related or not.
thanks!

yes, i suffer from flank pain on both sides, and down my hips, and my ribs also.
I can hardly touch the area sometimes. I use moist heat, and thats about
all that really helps. My lower back, hips and flank area seem to be my most vulnerable area, then the neck, shoulders and knees. The pain travels to different areas every day. Hope you feel better.

Well sometimes I get pains in my sides or on my ribs, but it's not a common area for me to have pain, it only happens once in awhile.

Yes, I get that occasionally and it is very sensitive to the touch. Ibuprofen helps me with that, along with hot showers and gentle stretching of the muscles.

I have flank pain right on the right side, it is starting in my low back and going across into the hip area and down my leg. If I press in midway on my right sided butt cheek it is really sore.
I have this since Sunday.
The chiro always tells me find the trigger point and treat that not the pain area because the trigger point is causing the pain.
I swear I can answer every post about
pain, but cannot help with meds, I am one of those fmers that the meds do not agree with, either they do nothing, I get a reaction or am so doped up I cannot function.

I have problems with pain on my ribs and lower back. One of the things that I do is I placed a ramp that my husband made under the foot of my bed so that my feet are raised up. this forces my back to stay flat taking the pressure off my entire back. i was in a little disbelief when my doctor suggested this but when i go to bed after a hard days work and the lower back is tender and hurting i actually wake up fealing better and sometimes with no pain.

Kate, thanks for the advice, my low back is so bad all week I could scream. I just had a bout of it two weeks ago and it is back.
You would think the ramp would put more pressure on our backs but if you tried it and it helps, I believe it.

Yes for about
a year or more. All kidney and liver function tests are normal, so I just deal with it. Urine looks clear and yellow. At a loss myself

YES! I have always had "sensitive" ribs. They hurt if anyone touches them...but prior to getting diagnosed with fibro I would get right side flank pain and it would move around. One week it would be in the kidney area for awhile...then it would disappear. Then it would come back and be in the liver area. I must of went to the ER about
5 times over the last 3 years because I was SURE there was something wrong with one of my organs and I would start to have anxiety attacks. Each time the tests would come back normal. I DID however end up having my gallbladder removed because one of the ultrasounds showed I did have a gallstone. I protested that I didn't think it was my gallbladder because after googling it and talking to some friends...I didn't have any of the typical gallbladder "attack" type symptoms. They did say that lots of people HAVE gallstones and keep their gallbladders because it doesn't cause them issues, but if I was having pain it was best to remove it. So they did...and it didn't change anything. I find the pain comes mostly in cold/damp weather....I have it NOW and have had it since last week. It STILL gives me anxiety attacks =/ For me...even though I have sensitive ribs on both sides if someone touches them, the "pain" I am referring to above is always on my right side.

Stretches from bra line down to mid-waist on me. I avoid bras at home because they tend to aggrevate it more.

This a new symptom for me too. I have the same pain about
an inch below my right rib cage on the abdominal wall. I think it was triggered by swimming. I'm going to just walk in the pool and see if it clears up. Hot water helps. Always something new and exciting.
