Fibro did come on suddenly for me...in a 45 minute period. I was watching TV with my husband and my toes started hurting, then my ankles, knees, etc. When it reached my elbows it was like I banged the nerves and I got that electrical type pain shooting down both arms and it remained that way for over two weeks! This was over 29 years ago. I was older than you at the time.
Puppylover is right. The heck with Fibro! I'm 68 years old now and have had a full and enjoyable life in spite of this illness. I've done a lot of traveling...even overseas, snorkled many times in the Caribbean, parasailed, etc. with Fibro. I, too, am heading out to a New Year's party tomorrow night...after I bake four dozen chocolate chip meringue cookies to take with me. YUM! I find if I focus on other things the pain will be pushed somewhat in the background. I used to focus on how I felt and that just caused me more pain and misery.
I use Ibuprofen with food, Tylenol, magnesium malate, vitamin D3, and a muscle relaxer to help me control the pain. Low magnesium and low vitamin D3 can cause pain by the way. I also walk daily as my gentle form of exercise and I pace myself when doing things. All of this has helped me live a really good life in spite of this illness.
I also keep a positive attitude. This has helped me about as much as the medications and supplements! I count my many blessings and realize, even though I have Fibro, I am still very fortunate.
Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about Fibro and you will learn a lot there. There are links about the vitamin and magnesium and how they work in the body and also a great link on how to maintain a positive attitude when you have chronic pain. All of Fibro 101 is good so do read it.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
