Spine hurts to touch

Has anyone's spine every hurt to touch in one specific area? One of my thoracic vertebrae hurts when I touch it...it might be T6, T7, T8, or T9. I did go to my doctor, but she didn't do anything at all. Although it is worse when I touch it, it still hurts in that one area even when not pressing on the area. I didn't injure my back. If anyone has any experience with anything like this or suggestions, please let me know. Thanks and Happy New Year!

Slee, have you gone to your primary for this? Your doctor may suggest that you get an X-ray.

Almost medfree, I did go to my primary care doctor, but she did not do anything at all. She pressed on my spine and when I said it hurt, she just said "That's strange". So, I'm not sure what to do at this point.

Sorry to hear that, slee. You did the right thing.

How about making some phone calls on Monday about your spine issue and see what they say.

The orthopedic surgeon might be a good place to start. Or a rheumatologist? Be careful with the rheumatologist, I've found that some are only pill pushers.

Slee, if this happened to me I would take an over the counter pain reliever and also use ice on my back. If it didn't start to feel better in a couple of days I would go back to the doctor and press the issue. I have osteoporosis and I can break a vertabrae really easily. Also, you might have ruptured a disk. I'm not a doctor...just guessing here...but it isn't normal to have bad back pain for no reason. It might be "strange" but there is a reason. Pain is our body's way of telling us something is wrong.
