I do understand and am sorry you are so young and dealing with this. I was ten years older than you when Fibro hit and I had three children running around. And like you I had other illnesses added to the mix. I had to push through because my husband's job at the time had him away from home for generally two weeks at a time, one week home, and out two more weeks. I was left taking care of the children, the house, the gardens, but I did hire someone to mow the lawn. It was really difficult but I did it. I was truly exhausted at the end of the day and I'm sure that's exactly how you feel.
When I was 50, my husband died suddenly. I had many illnesses, legally deaf, and all the chronic pain. When the COBRA was running out I tried to get health insurance but couldn't find any company that would take me on! My doctor suggested I try for social security disability. I have never considered myself disabled...just challenged...so I was shocked when I got it. BUT what they did was give me my husband's social security benefits early. ( I was a teacher and teachers at that time didn't pay into SS. They had their own retirement plan.). Unfortunately, taking SS early like that took away about 29% of my benefits! So check into that. I don't know how it would work using your own SS and also if you could switch to your husband's SS when retirement comes. I'm just not sure. I only know what happened to me. But it still paid off because I got Medicare. Thank goodness for that because I have been hospitalized seven times since my husband died...eighteen years ago. I would have lost everything so it was a good decision for me.
I now have to take care of everything in my home but this has kept me moving and active. But I can pace myself and that is something you probably can't do on the job. That does make a difference.
I do find that moving around helps me with fatigue...it is after all exercise. So if you can do that at work I'd move around as much as possible. There are also stretching exercises in Fibro 101 that are done sitting down and you could do these if you have a desk job. They wouldn't even know you were doing most of them. I think the movement helps with circulation and circulation is moving oxygen to the cells which helps with energy. It's worth a shot!
I hope everything works out just the way you want and that you start to feel better.
