RA, I want to clarify something for you. The study showed you needed 2, 400 mg. of malic acid. Check your label...the fine print. On the front of my magnesium malate bottle it says 625 mg. On the back of the bottle it says it has 425 mg of magnesium and 2.5 g (grams which is equivalent to 2,500 mg) of malic acid per serving size. I don't want you to get confused and take too much.
I buy mine at Puritan.com and they are made by Source Naturals. The bottle says Magnesium Malate and says 625 mg. and contains 200 capsules. One serving size, which gives you the 2,400 mg of malic acid suggested by the study, is six capsules. One serving size also gives you 425 mg. of magnesium which also helps with muscle pain. I spread these out by taking three capsules in the morning and three capsules at night. I think this has helped prevent me from having any digestive issues by taking the magnesium this way.
I wanted to let you know since Puritan sells a more potent magnesium malate too. I haven't tried those since this works for me. Sometimes more is not better. I hope this helps and, yes, the magnesium malate does help me.
