this is weird, right? of course, we fibromyalgics have pains in weird places.......just recently, i have had some more intense headaches....i was feeling around on my skull looking for the "sore" spots to massage and i found that the crown of my skull is extremely sensitive and sore....ugh. i hate finding these places....it's like i cannot stop touching them thinking how much it hurts??? i blame that on the ocd....

so strange tho....why does it hurt there? normally, my headaches hurt on the temples or right behind the ears....i find sooooo many spots behind my ears that are extremely tender....now, it's on the top of my head???

anyone else????

Yup, sometimes various spots on the top of my head are very tender and sore. I have always wondered if this was fibromyalgia related, figuring it was, because it comes and goes - thanks for bringing this up.

AND like you said, it's hard not to keep touching them - even though they hurt. Kinda like trying to release a trigger point, guess.

I just wanted to say that about 4 pressure points are located near that area.

Yeah, the top of my head is really tender too. 

 

I found this out one day while getting a massage.  My therapist explained that there is a lot of muscular tissue on our scalps, and like all the rest of my muscles, it too is pretty tender to the touch.

I'm a sorehead. turn I think my DH taps my head all over in my sleep with a hammer. I even have two places on my forehead that stay sore. I never thought about having muscles on my scalp til fibro.

 

I have tried using acupressure on sore spots to relieve them but I haven't had much success.

 

My tender points are multiplying faster than rabbits. smhair

i am afraid to massage them because i always go overboard and make them worse....

maybe a warm compress?? i think i'll try that...

I have a terribly painful skull. My hair even hurts when it moves. In my case I found out I have occipital neuralgia. Is this possible in your case? I have alot of stuff going on with my neck.

When I was a girl, I remember asking my girlfriend, You know that pain you get when you take your hair out of a ponytail? She gave me a blank look and said, No. I thought everyone got that pain, I was shocked. I also get it if I part my hair differently. The top of my hair can hurt so badly, I want to scream. At least now I know what causes this pain.

I also get the pain in my temples and behind and above my ears, like where my glasses sit. I also get a strange thing where it feels like my temples are swelling out to push my glasses, the pain is horrid.

irishbabe- i have had that strange ponytail pain too....i cannot even wear a hat....i always get a migraine when i do....

i guess i just never noticed that the top of my head hurt as well as my temples and behind my ears....

I get it regulary, its awful because I need to lie down and relax my muscles by just lying on the lounge but my skull is so sensitive that I can only do it for a few minutes.  I really hate it.  Its just another symtom and it looks common I thought it was just me.  sue2z confused confused confused

Me too. Some days brushing my hair across the top of my head hurts so bad! Also I get those headaches that feel like a band around your head. Wow, where doesn't it hurt sometimes? Maybe our ear lobes?...lol

This has also happened to me. I get my hair cut a lot and the 1st time I noticed it was during a shampoo before the cut. It felt like the guy was giving me the roughest shampoo job ever. It hurt. BAD! (before I was diagnosed) Anyhow. Everytime I went I had to ask them to be gentle and it still hurt. :(
so now they know I have fibro and to be extra gentle w/ me. I wash my hair every night and sometimes I even hurt myself. All I wanna know is....What next?

well, the other day at work, i noticed the top of my head at my crown really sore, it had did it before, but not as bad. I'm female, i have shoulder length hair, that i wear in a cap all day. it was so sore i could barely touch it., ( I do construction work, i keep it up to keep out of my eyes ). But anyways, when i got home, took my hat off, washed my hair, I didn't feel any pain anymore? makes me think maybe, just making my hair go a different direction for a long amount of time, may have alot to do with it??? not really sure.

Alicat....Like the others I also have this sore head. My hair even hurts at times and I can also understand that soreness you get fro a ponytail or just parting my hair differently. So I do believe this is another one of those weird fibro things. Lovely.....

I also have that ponytail problem and pain when hair goes a different way than it's used to. I thought everybody had that?

I thought everyone had that ponytail pain too. LOL.. Seems most of us are in that same position. I am having one of those headaches today...I took 2 aleve and so far nothing. I usually take 2 aleve and 1 tylenol at the same time and it works wonders but I am out of tylenol today. I think I am having a flare up this weekend and today. Feeling the cruddy fluish feeling with the nasty headache and I feel like I could just go home and sleep the day away and I am not a sleeper AT ALL...So when I sleep people know that I am sick. No fun, hopefully this day goes faster. Hope everyone is doing well today and is pain free...

Also pain with any eyeglass wear no hats nothing on head or hair it’s horrible . Have sleep apnea . Devices are difficult and not able to sleep because I can’t shut down nor get comfortable with any pillow or not get enough oxygen so awake with headache . It’s been a real challenge everyday but I just keep my faith and do my best to to not give up . Any advice please let me know . It seems I have to just do more drugs . God be with all of us .

Hi! New here! I just had this last week and it was so weird. I kept getting an earache at a certain time of the evening, and a point on my jaw would be tender and if I touched a spot on my skull it was sore and felt directly connected to the ear and jaw. It lasted for several days, but only at a certain time of day. Crazy. I always have tender points on my head from migraines - often sleep with an ice pack balanced on my head - and totally get the pony tale thing.
